There will be an International Regional Fly-in at Villenuve Airport (CZVL) in Alberta Canada on 11 July 2020. The Beech Aero Club International Director, Bruce Byer and the BAC Executive Vice President plan to be in attendance, weather permitting, and perform the official hand over of the International Beech Aero Club Banner!

Yes, we have been effectively grounded so to speak for the last few months - probably weather more than anything else.

At last year's breakfast, Edmonton radar was out and ATC was advising ZVL was closed - well maybe to IFR, but not to VFR.

I like to think ATC will not do that do us again, but regardless ZVL will open to Musketeers et all, on Saturday July 11 for breakfast. Anyone who has been to CZVL will know that we will not be hard to find; anyone who has not, well we will still not be hard to locate.

I know there are at least a half a dozen flying Musketeers in Alberta - maybe we will see even more that that.

The tower frequency is now 118.8; used to be 120.0 but it changed.

ATF, Aerodrome Traffic Frequency is also 118.8 so call in prior to 5NM out.

Ground is 120.8.

I'm almost certainly a no go on this one. I've long since run out of adjectives to describe the weather here in B.C. Pouring rain, low clouds, high winds. Cold. Kamloops is supposed to be just this side of desert. Not this year...

I drove to Edmonton last summer and dropped by Villeneuve to have a look. Flying was just not going to happen, low clouds in Valemount, horizontal rain in Jasper. Is FVQI still there?

Yes, Mike Nason, the local AME is rebuilding C-FVQI so it definitely at CZVL.

Below is a link to last years poster and it was the Cardinal Aviation / Mike Nason's hangar where we had the breakfast last year.

C-FVQI was sitting out on his portion of the tarmac at that time - might be in the hangar now - guess I will be finding out for certain. It is one the half dozen or so Musketeers here in the province that I referred to as "not flying".

Valemount is still low clouds and rain per below. I could find a link for Kamloops but it would be just as depressing. Yes, normally Kamloops is your local version of Phoenix with more than just Camelback Mountain surrounding the sands. I suppose it is an oasis now?

Now that you ask, I have yet to get a speeding ticket in my Sport.

I do recall flying in Saskatchewan looking down and seeing a John Deere passing me. The dust flying behind its wheels must have been going near 80 mph. My Sport is best for building hours rather than rocketing about.

My six hours of fuel did not get me very far west - had to land at Kindersley SK (CYKY). I note the town boasts two water towers.

26 planes and a hundred people

Rain and wind today but yesterday, perfect weather for a morning Fly-In breakfast.

We got near a hundred people (90 breakfasts sold), and 26 planes flew in - only two being Musketeers but that represents a sizable chunk of the fleet here in the Province. Actually it was 25 planes plus the local RCMP Air Services Branch helicopter.

I guess there were 3 Musketeers if you include the Model 23 being rebuilt in the hangar.

The C-19 thing caused a few changes from the usual. 4 x 8 tables were set out with 3 chairs to a table, the tables being spaced out over the tarmac rather than in the hangar.

Food was served, rather than buffet style, and the plastic cutlery was wrapped in a paper napkin rather than grab boxes etc.

Ketchup etc was in individual bags rather than bottles, that sort of thing. It all seemed to work well.

Jeff Knight was down from Cold Lake and presented me with the BAC banner which for the immediate future, I will display in my hangar.
