DEEP CREEK LAKE FLY-IN Garrett County Airport (2G4) SAT 01/26/13

11:30 at the ramp. The FBO will call over to the Wisp and they'll send a van over for us. I'll be there early to run interference.

If Sharmalie an I do make it, I'll give a show an tell for my garmin pilot app with the gdl39, that shows weather and traffic, I have the app on both my iPad and iPhone running at the same time, no need to crowd around the screens. However, I will be checking the grand czars pockets (ie john Persinger) before he walks away!

Steve

Hey John ,
I can take you up in mine and like Alan you will be begging to get out.lol.looking forward to seeing everyone.

I for one would love to see that!

Attention all pilots and drivers ! Should we have a weather no go. Alternate is manassas hef @ 1130 with a get together for lunch nearby. If the weather is so bad we have to keep our wheels on the ground lets still get together. Go no go decision to be made by mid atlantic Airczar tomorrow evening. This applies to everyone except Dan Kirby .The Russian air czar has already called Garrett county 60 degrees Celsius , light winds unlimited visibility .:)

I hear people are getting "Cold Feet" about flying into Garrett Co Saturday? 16mph winds, 22F and 60% chance of snow. What's the problem?

So there will definitely be a _____-In. Not sure if the ______ will be fly or cruise! If the weather is bad, the fly-in becomes a cruise-in to HEF because several members are based there or near there. The weather is supposed to be better there than at Deep Creek Lake.

Ya the weather today (Friday) is snow hear at HEF. My plane sits on the ramp unlike you rich guys, so it'll be covered by snow an ice saturday am, leaves our ability to go in a high degree of doubt. Not to mention that I make money when it snows so I'll be out most of Friday nite til morning paying the mortgage. If its local at HEF I'll try to come.

Steve

This sounnds like fun. If I can make it I will check in the morning for final plans.
If ice and frost is a problem it might be worth getting a jug od Aluminum safe antifreeze solution from an RV shop and an industrial spray bottle. This has helped me defrost wings etc when traveling.

Looks like the Alberta Clipper is heading straight for KHEF and the Mid Atlantic in general. This looks like a nasty one. My heart go out to you guys.

hmm, seems like the last two mid Atlantic attempts were weathered. Maybe we should be more unofficial regarding our attempts ;)

We're out. Taking one of the young guys that I fly with on a tower tour at Wilmington. Besides I may be shoveling snow through the morning hours :(

I had to cancel my tee time this morning due to drizzle... I am sure Marty can relate. Oh how cruel life can be. :)

Mike

Mike , I was feeling bad about our fly in until I heard about the cancelled tee time due to drizzle.I know Marty can relate but looking at the snow I wish I could relate.:) On a secondary plan , instead of a Fly -in tomorrow at Garrett county lets have a Slide-In at Manassas (Hef)@ 1130 am Dulles Aviation terminal. We can get together for lunch then.

I won't make it. My flight home tonight from a company meeting in Chicago was cancelled, so I'm stuck in the Windy City for an extra night. Might be home tomorrow afternoon. Maybe. If I'm lucky.

Haven't decided to drive or fly...to fly to HEF I'll drive right past it to get to HWY! See you one way or the other. 12 mile flight, I'm racking up some points now! How about extra points for entering the SFRA?
