Copperstate Fly-in 21-23 October

Headed to Andromeda
Is any one planning on making it to Copper State (KCGZ)? I'll be there on Saturday. I don't know if it would qualify as a BAC event being just a week away. I'm not sure how to post this event on the calendar. I'll give it a shot. Anyway, if you can make it, give me a call we can have a hamburger together. There were some nifty airplanes last year. Always something interesting to see. One of the few real grass roots fly-ins, only not much grass, mostly prickly pear and cholla. Go to the link below for more information and arrival/departure procedures.

For an event to qualify for President's Trophy points, it must be announced and posted five days in advance. I would think this event qualifies based on the rules. Good luck! I wish I could be there but we will be out of town.

If this qualifies as a BAC event, can I take the attendees to lunch?

By the way Chris, when ARE you in town?

To answer your first question, I would assume there is still a budget but you should check with our RD, Marshal Whatley.

With regards to your second question, I am in town when I am in town but I'm not here when I'm out of town.....if you followed my driftage!:D

Copper State is almost here. Are any members planing to attend other than me? I plan to be there after breakfast Saturday morning.

Well, Copper State was bigger this year than last year. Good turnout by the local CAF. B-17, B-25, C-46, SNJ and a L-16. A few other warbirds, mostly Yaks, but a P-51D and a PB4Y-2. There were plenty of Experimentals and LSAs all over the ramp. Quite a few vendors too, mostly Van's, RANS, Legend, Cub Crafters, Kit Fox, Zenith and others. Some rare production airplanes as well as some rare and early Homebuilts, like the Pietenpol Air Camper, Bowers FlyBaby, Cygnet and the Sitts FlyBuddy. There was a whirlybird contingent, those funky trikes, and even some Bipe's. It was hard to say what was most numerous, production airplanes or Homebuilts. But there was plenty to look at and lots of stuff in the Fly-Market and lots of avionic vendors, although mostly catering to the Experimental crowd. I saw a single Sundowner parked on the visitor line, but was unable to locate the owner.

Of the BACers present, it looked like just me and Jim and Janie Fix. So it was an official BAC event! I'm going to try to improve attendance next year. Shouldn't be hard, with just two more will will double the number of members attending!
