Very sad, looks like we'll miss this one. We are going to Oshkosh tomorrow (Monday) but just for the day. Hangarmouse should be in Vintage Aircraft Parking, if anyone walks by!
We are in vintage parking, row 72. We'll watch for you. We'll be sitting in 3 green chairs, near row 72 at the air show line, geeking out with the handheld radio. Old guy, me, and two 20-something sons.
Dave,
Yup, VAP is west of the 36L yellow dot. Seems like 90% of 36L arrivals are getting the yellow dot and a left on the next taxiway, or left into the grass. Another left south to VAP.
Here are some directions and pictures to help you locate the campsite in Paul's Woods. The coordinates are 43 deg. 58.529' N 088 deg. 33.974' W. From the main entrance (where the concrete engines are) follow Forest Home Ave South to Schaick RD. Turn left and head East to your first right which is Diescher. Head South once again and walk past the restrooms which are on your right and turn left on to a dirt lane. Your heading East and the campsite is on your right. The pin in the maps marks the spot. There are other ways to get there depending on which way you are coming from. In the pictures below Schaick RD is called Riley Ln. But if you are using an AirVenture map or the EAA app it is Schaick RD. And if all else fails follow the APA AA Welcome signs they lead you to a campsite just East of the BAC picnic on the same lane.
You can reach me at 317-626-2583 if you have any problems.
We had a total of a dozen people attend. 8 members, 1 former member (promising to renew), and 3 guests. I'll be home in a couple of days and upload some pictures.
Campsite in Paul's Woods. A friend of Bob's was nice enough to allow us to use it.
Everyone enjoying the cool weather and good company.
