BAC picnic at Airventure, Wednesday, July 27th

Around The Moon
Sorry for the late posting, but the annual BAC picnic will take place on July 27th, starting at 12:30 in the afternoon. We will have the usual burgers, brats, beer, soda and water. The location is my campsite in Paul's Woods due South of Exhibition Building D. Exit the South Gate and follow the map attached here. The campsite is on the North side of the ditch (er, stream) so if you cross a bridge, you've gone too far. If you have portable chairs, you may want to bring them.

Please let me know if you are attending and how many in your group so we can plan the food and beverage.

See you at OSH!

Roland,
Linda and I as well as son Andy and daughter, Adrienne will be there. Likely to be in camp Shuler. Maybe we can get together again. We hope to get there Thursday and will leave on Sunday.

It would be great to see you again. We will be camping in classic aircraft again, but can also head over to camp shuler. We are planning to arrive early Friday morning. (Or Thursday night).

I will see you maybe sunday. Me and friend are going via camper. Long drive but better than working that week.

No issues, Charlie, except that sucker is heavy! It takes two men and a boy to set up, but once it's up, it really looks nice!

Hi Bob --

I'll be in OSH Saturday-Tuesday, and again Friday-Sunday.
Gonna miss the Wednesday picnic . . . darn.

We'll be camped in the North40, handicap section, behind the registration shack.
You or anyone seeing the red dome shade structure there is welcome to stop by for a blender drink.

The dome looks like the attached picture.
It originally went to OSH a few years ago as a pop-up canopy.
High winds turned it into a tangled mess.
The canopy lives on as a cover for a more resilient PVC frame.

Happy Hour at 6pm.

HI Bob~
I was wondering which day to head for Oshkosh. Now I know. Probably just bring myself, but looking forward to some good Beech times.

I cannot make it this year, but thx for setting it up. Always a great time with the BAC bunch. Remember, if you fly, you will need to provide your own tie downs for the grass (mandatory) and you really should have pieces of something like plywood to put under the tires (desirable, not mandatory) so the day you leave you can roll right off and not either tug a lot or use high power. Your airplane will settle into the grass. Does not need to be big or heavy, maybe the size of a shoebox cover. (been there, done that).

Also, for those of us at home, viewing the action from the EAA website is awesome. The three live webcams and Air Traffic feeds right from their AirVenture website really make you feel close to the event. From the home page, they are on the News and Multi-media tab, then drop down for EAA Webcams. If you can't make it, give it a try. The cameras are active now, and have been up since last week. Best to all.

Looks like a small but elite group this year. Seems no matter what day we schedule, there are always member conflicts. Hopefully if you can't make the picnic, you can make the ice cream social. Looks like there are other members planning get-togethers, also. I'll attend any of those I can.

I neeed to start planning for food and drink for the picnic. Here is the attendee list I have so far. Please correct any errors/omissions.

Bob Schmidt - 1
John Redmon -1
Bob Lewis -3
Kyle Setrum -1
Charlie Booton -2
Lee Cole -2
David Vance -1

Any more?

darn it: so close.

I was invited this afternoon to tag along to Oshkosh by one of my customers. We will fly in on Sunday, and fly out on Wednesday...

Maybe next time.

on a related note: WOOHOO!!!!!!! I am going to Oshkosh!!! 31 years I have waited for this!!!! I am sooooo stoked :-)

Now to go buy a tent and sleeping bag tomorrow, and charge up the camera. anything else I need to bring? A big bag of money for the swap meet???

ps: I will try to make my way over to see you at a non-picnic hour, my host is also a (silent) BAC member :-)
