BAC Fest 2008 a HUGE success!!

Around The Moon
BAC Fest 2008 is getting closer! I hope many of you have or are making plans to attend. The California sunshine, the beach, the wine and great time getting together with your fellow BAC members is going to make this the best BAC Fest yet!

Check out this site for a little taste of the Santa Maria area (http://www.santamaria.com/visit/index.html). We’ve got some good things planned for spouses and members alike. We’re gonna have some of the BBQ that they brag about plus a keynote speaker at the banquet that will amaze you!

So make your plans, even if you have to make the trip on a commercial airline. I’ll see you there!

Chris-Have you started collecting $ for BAC Fest yet? Also do you have a link to the Radisson to make reservations? The question was brought up at the last fly-in.
Thanks,
Gary

Good question, Gary. BAC has not started taking registration fees yet and it will probably be another couple of months before that happens.

But, hotel reservations can be made by phoning the Radisson directly 805-928-8000 or toll free 866-292-4676; toll free worldwide at 800-333-3333-just mention that you are with Beech Aero Club; or via internet at www.radisson.com/santamariaca. On our website, you would just enter "BEECH" in the Promo Code box on the right side of the screen. Everything is already up and set to go!

Please report any difficulties to me or Dan Jonas.

Fly safely!
Chris L.

OK, I am booked! The Radisson online reservation worked like a charm.
(Of course, because I don't have that much vacation time, I will have to let some 25 y/o kids [or 56 y/o Beech Driver] fly me there. )
But...I WILL be at BAC Fest! 8)

Glad to see that you are booked, Steve! The last time I checked with the hotel we already had five members booked so you will be the sixth.

Everyone keep an eye on the website because we plan to have the BAC Fest 2008 registration form up and usable by the end of the month.

Remember, early registration will be cheaper than registering at the door plus by booking early you have a better chance of a room overlooking the airplanes parked on the ramp just outside the hotel!

I'm looking for that too. I thought the banquet was Thursday, but now I hear it's Friday, so I'm a bit confused.

BAC Fest 2008 - ride share

As BAC Fest 2008 gets closer I wanted to get a thread going so everyone can start thinking about ride sharing. We would love to have more planes, but we also understand those flying from the east coast.

I will be flying from CSG in GA and will have an empty seat.

Doug
N18859 - soon to be almost new. :)

Doug,

I maybe interested in that empty seat from DTO to Santa Maria and back, for a share of expenses and a Cuban or two.

OK, registration is open, the banquet is on Friday night, the default arrival date is Tuesday the 7th and departure Saturday the 11th. Is there anything planned for Saturday and/or Sunday? When do activities start on Wednesday (or Tuesday?). Unfortunately because airline fares are so cheap and 100LL is so expensive, we are going to have to fly commercially and I need to make reservations ASAP. I just want to make sure I get the right dates.

Hey folks, read the news article carefully! The BAC Fest 2008 itinerary is in there but here is a synopsis:

Oct. 8 cocktail reception
Oct. 9 winery tour for spouses/guests
BAC member events (two presentations, lunch, modded plane)

Oct. 10 BAC business luncheon
Spouse/guest luncheon with special presentation
Gala banquet with keynote speaker

Oct. 11
at your leisure...nothing planned

Oct. 12 at your leisure...nothing planned

The Savvy Aviator seminar begins on Saturday the 11th but that is not technically part of BAC Fest though we did negotiate a special rate for BAC members.

When you register you can make your start date whatever you want it to be. As well as your end date. If you are attending the Savvy Aviator seminar, you will keep your special BAC Fest room rate.

Hope this helps. See you there!

There have been some questions about the registration process. Please note, since everyone is responsible for their room, activity (wine tour) and BAC Fest registration fees, then you must register for each one separately.

For rooms go to www.radisson.com/santamariaca and use the promo code "BEECH" to get our special rate.

For the winery tour go to www.goldcoastlimos.com/winetours_santa-maria-tour.html

And for BAC Fest 2008 registration go to vbl.beechaeroclub.org/bac_fest+main.html

Let me know if you run into problems!

Open seat from Monterey

I know some of you are planning on flying commercial... if you can make it to Monterey I can fly you KMRY to SMX. I will probably be flying down each AM and returning each PM.

Send me a PM if interested,
Chris

"Early" registration ends on Sept. 15th, 2008. After that, the registration fee goes up $50. Rooms rates go up too.....so don't delay...REGISTER NOW!

Registering now helps the BAC Fest committee plan and ensure that things are fully prepared so that everyone has a great experience!

See you in California!

Two things are sure so far...

I will be to BACFest 2008 for will be coming down from the Bay Area and will be around for Friday through Sunday as I'm doing the seminar.

Unsure is when I will make it down exactly and whether I will fly or drive. A couple of possible pending employment changes means it's unclear whether I'll have enough vacation to come down Wednesday and whether SuperMouse will have to make a trip west or not.

For those and other reasons it's unclear if Candy will make it this year too. But either way I/we should have room for 1-2 bodies down from the Bay Area, just timing and vehicle mode is unsure. All of this should be resolved by early-mid September.
