BAC Day

N2301L flew at 15:38Z to 16:56Z and 17:51Z to 19:08Z. Delivered 2 boxers, 1 adopted and 1 to a new foster home from KORL (Orlando Executive) to KFMY (Ft. Myers/Page).

I had a Crazy Flying BAC Day!
We Flew from overcast San Carlos(SQL, near SanFrancisco) into a dust storm in Bakersfield (BFL)! I love the Sierra, the hardest part of the whole flight was taxiing to the hangar. I had no idea there was so much wind until we touched down and opened the door! 18kt cross wind, gusting 40kts

The weather here yesterday was what I would call "legal but stupid" so I didn't pull out of the hangar.

After scurrying home yesterday from Virginia's state Corvair Convention, I discreetly stopped by the airport and took the Big Orange Bird for a short trip around the patch and still made it home in time to take the kids to go see Iron Man kick some butt on the big screen!

Weather here was no go for this student pilot yesterday. Flew KHQU (Thomson, GA) to KAIK (Aiken, SC) today for an oil change and to have a leaking brake caliper fixed. One of my best landings ever while my wife and a friend watched me come in. Victory!

Peace,
Don

Don-
Making good judgement calls is one of the most important aspects of being a good pilot! Know your limits and stick to them.....you'll never regret it.

Congrats on the greaser in front of the home crowd! It's a good feeling!:D

Don,

I agree, stick to your limitations and this is a relatively safe undertaking. I managed a soft landing with the 2 dogs in back in front of their new owners in 15K crosswinds. Got the upwind main down, straightened it out, set the other main down and flew the nose down (pure luck I think, but it looked good from a distance). I was the last to land before they switched the airport from 31 to 5 because of the winds.

Any news on the final tally?
