For those flying to Oshkosh, here is a tip. Along with the mandatory tie-down, consider something for under your tires. Just a piece of plywood about the size of a large shoe box cover should be enough to spread the weight over the grass. If you don't do something, you may sink a bit into the grass, and when you try to leave it will be either a hard tug on the tow bar, or a high power run-up just to move. My...uh...friend had this issue one year, and learned for the next time. Fly safe all, and see you there.
Work and weather permitting, leaving Virginia with my two sons Tuesday morning, but hopefully arrive OSH Thursday (hotel reservation starts Thursday for 4 nights). We'll hope to meet up with our fellow BACers.
Chris, we had a smaller group this year. My guess is that we had about 15 members and about thirty total attendees. I think John Redmon has a more accurate count than I do. Quite a few new faces, at least for me, which is good to see!
My pre-event count of registered attendees and guests was 28, but we had at least three walk-ins and a couple of no-shows.
Finally getting into the swing of things after being gone to Oshkosh for 12 days!! Had a fantastic time again this year.
We were the talk of the Warbird campground with our banner hanging on a real military issue Humvee (not a Hummer). My fellow Warbird peoples thought it was very cool we had our Oshkosh picnic at the grounds! It was great to see new faces and renew with the old timers. We had a nice turnout and the weather, airshow and everthing else was perfect!
Now back to the grind and countdown until Oshkosh 2013!!!
