*****Arlington EAA Website*****

Well, Arlington is just a little more than 4 weeks away, and it has been offered to us to have a type club table in the big (main) tent!!!

............................................This would mean fantastic exposure for BAC!

The executive committee has OK'd the registration fee (reduced for us) and so now... the planning has to hit high gear real quick, since the administration at Arlington want to be able to put the BAC info on their website! This would be GREAT publicity for BAC, and so we are putting out an urgent call for volunteers to man the tables . We need to know as soon as possible anyone who would be willing to help out. Free admission will be provided for all table volunteers. In the past, we have asked for a two hour shift from as many as possible, as often as possible. It is a five day event that requires our booth to be manned Wed 7/8 through Sat 7/10 from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday 7/11 from 9 to 3. So lots of help is needed.

PLEASE, help us out...... this will be new ground for BAC, but ground that will no doubt go a long way in promoting our great club.

So far we have the following volunteers:

Wednesday July 8th
  • 9-11.......Chris Linderman
  • 11-1.......Marty Vanover
  • 1-3.........Chris Linderman
  • 3-5.........Jack Becker
Thursday July 9th
  • 9-11......Thom Smith
  • 11-1......Chris Linderman
  • 1-3........Chris Linderman
  • 3-5........Ben Auker
Friday July 10th
  • 9-11........Chris Linderman
  • 11-1........Ben Auker
  • 1-3.........Thom Smith
  • 3-5.........Marty Vanover
Saturday July 11th
  • 9-11........Ben Auker
  • 11-1........John Radysh
  • 1-3.........Thom Smith
  • 3-5.........Mick Nordeen
Sunday July 12th
  • 9-11........Ben Auker
  • 11-1........Thom Smith
  • 1-3..........John Radysh

I suppose it would be worthwhile to poll to see who plans on camping, getting a motel, or car and I will see about "trying" to arrange some group rates. Actually, the Arlington Staff has already arranged car deals from Enterprise (on their website), but I think I will be looking for a motel.

Thom-
Put me down for (July eighth) Wednesday 9-11 AM
and (July eighth) Wednesday 1-3 PM.

Also, (July 9) Thursday 11-1 and (Jul 9) Thursday 1-3 again.

Friday (July 10), put me down for 9-11 AM.

We should probably set up a schedule board so people can see times and openings to work.

Come one folks in the west! BAC is stepping up and now it's your turn.

All for one!
Chris L.

Thom,

Will you have a table for materials and a place to hang a 4' x 4' banner? I can send you the stuff we use for Sun-n-Fun.

Doug

Yes indeed. Working on the details now. But I should have our banner in a day or two, but any and all materials would sure be appreciated. Never done this before!

PM me for info if you need to. Otherwise it is current in my profile.
Thank You!

I should be able to make it to Arlington. I don't know which dates, but I'll check my schedule and let you know tomorrow. I will certainly work a few shifts at the booth. Let me know if there is anything else you need, Thom. Look forward to seeing you there Chris. Too bad about Beech Day, but Arlington is more important anyway.

Ben

Thom I know I'm in the international div. I dont know if it even matters but I am there for the whole time and it doesnt matter what time you need me . I could help a couple of hours each day if you need . Lets see who can help out first and I could fill in later. someone might only be able to come on a certain day.

Great, I will count on you ... but the more names we actually get on the schedule as soon as possible will determine whether or not we can take the chance and register. If you commit to certain dates/times, and someone else is only available during one of your times, I'm sure we can make adjustments.

Ben?

I was kind of doing the same thing (waiting) but I guess I should follow my own advice!!

By the way..... make SURE you check out the 25 page Notam for this event...... confuses me a little!

Pencil me in for
Thursday, 3-5
Fri, 11-1
Sat, 9-11
Sun, 9-11

I can fill another shift or two if necessary. I'll be fairly flexible with my schedule.

Ben

Done!! And thanks a load, I think we will go ahead with the registration this afternoon. I will post your times on the news item and herein above.

Thom,

It looks like I'll make it (at least I've negotiated a kitchen pass for the duration of the fly-in). Put me on the list at least a couple of times. I could make it every day if necessary.

WOWEEE!!

Three regions..... This is shaping up nice! Thanx Marty. Look forward to putting a face with all these names! Well, that is besides the Prez!

If the days I stick you into aren't what ya want, we are flexible. If we get enough volunteers, maybe we can shortn the shifts to one hour!

C'mon BAC!

Is anyone else a little confused by the VFR Arrival procedures? I am unsure if the route (Green Valley) requires the flight from the west over the Peuget Sound, or can we fly direct to Green Valley Airport and then follow the procedure?

Thom,

KAWO was my base for awhile. I had a partnership in a Stinson there for about 9 years. I lived in Marysville (outer marker) for 12 years. If you need any help with this, let me know. I still have friends in the area. There are hotels in the local area, one mile from the airport. Maybe a couple within walking distance, but probably not with the suitcase my wife packs. There are also car rentals there, but not a lot. I have my favorite hotel in Mukilteo near KPAE (home of the 747, 767, 777 and if it ever flys, the 787). It's about a half hour drive to KAWO. Where I stay will depend if I can find another member to fly with me for the duration of the fly-in. I will probably rent a car myself as I will be visiting friends when not manning the BAC table or doing fly-in stuff. So, I will be available for the transport of the few brave souls that decide to place their lives in my hands on the roads of Snohomish County. There are plenty of great restaurants within 30 minutes or less of KAWO.

Marty,
Having some trouble finding a hotel, but the Arlington Motor inn on State Rt 530 has some rooms. Do you know it? I don't want a fle-bag, but I am trying to find something affordable, since I would be staying Wed thru Monday. So maybe there for me. I plan on spending as much time as possible at the Skagit River Brewery .... Great food and beers!

Thom.
You can put me down for July 11th, 11 - 1 , and July 12th ,1 - 3. like I said I can fill in anywhere if someone wants these times .

John Radysh.

DONE! And Thanx! Be glad you are RVing..... cheapest motelI could find was over $500 for the 6 days. Plus car, that's an expensive trip. Kinda makes you forget about the cost of 100ll

Ya last year I couldn't find anything but in Portland so Judy and I plus our bordercollie had to sleep in the 4runner. Good luck I'll bring some good Canuk beer !

john.

You know aalot of people just pitch a tent with their airplane , and they have free showers there. I might do that one year when my wife doesn't want to go.

john.

I'm campin'. 8) For sure... it'll be fun. Pitch a tent next to my airplane and camp at the airport. Heck yeah. I love camping... :D... so does Selena, so we're campin'.

But that's just me. :)
