AOPA Expo

Who is going to the Palms Springs for the AOPA Expo? If you are going, where are you planning to land and stay? Perhaps, if there are enough of us,we could have a bit of a get together, maybe even a hospitality room.

Lemme know!
Chris

Chris,

Pam had so much fun (so did I) with everyone including Steve and Mary (our SoCal friends) that I think she wants to go to the AOPA event in Palm Springs to see her new friends. We have made no exact plans yet, but we are thinking we will go.

Conway (aka Mike)

I understand that Steve and Mary are gong to be there and Dan Jonas plans to attend as well. I am going to be there, hopefully in our Sierra this time. Maybe this will turn into something.

Anyone else coming to the Expo? Commercially or privately?

CL

I might fly my Sierra in from Hayward for Friday only. I've registered for the exposition only. It's gotta be VFR for me though.

I have a room for Friday night and Saturday. Weather permitting, we plan to arrive late Friday afternoon and depart early Sunday morning. Hope to see some BAC'ers there!

Great, Jeanne! I look forward to meeting you. Maybe those of us that attend can meet for breakfast or something. My wife and I are going to be at the Hilton Garden Inn which has limited amenities but as we get closer maybe I can get something together.

CalifDan, if you come, bring the SW banner!

Looking forward to it!

Hi Chris, et. al.

Mary and I will likely drive, as we will be traveling with my hangar-mate and CFII instructor (yes, the little yellow bus. We will all have on our helmets!)

AOPA

My plan is to arrive on Wednesday and leave on Sunday. The plan is to fly down, but if weather looks like a problem, I will be driving. Adrianne is flying in commercially on Saturday morning, so she won't get to much of the show.

I will bring the banner.

Does anyone have any information about aircraft parking, best airport to fly into, etc. What about rental cars?

I would like to find a way to make sure I get a chance to meet any BAC members who are attending. Since I will be there all three days, I should be able to do it.

Any logistical information is appreciated.

Hi Chris, Steve, Mike, Dan, this is Mike Peace. I will be going to Palm Springs too. I will arrive on saturday on a commercial airline, too far to fly down in the Beech Sport..... 794.8 miles too far.Happy Flying until we meet again.

Mike peace

Hello everyone!

Sounds like a mini-fly-in is shaping up! I must tell you though, if we can't fly the Sierra down, then we'll have to pass this time. Having said that, we plan to arrive Friday as I said earlier. Friday evening is open for us, as is all day Saturday (which I plan to be visiting the Expo). Saturday evening, we are having dinner with some friends that live there so we're not able to hook up on the 11th. We plan to blast off Sunday morning.

Looking forward to it!

Chris

FYI-I'm thinking of going into KTRM (J. Cochan Airport) south of Palm Springs. The fuel looks to be cheaper and hopefully it will be a little less crowded. I plan to rent a car and they can do that too. (www.airnav.com/airport/KTRM)

I recommend Thermal Self-serve FBO rather than the other on base.

Anyway, hope this helps. See ya there!

Chris

Exactly

Chris,

You hit the nail on the head. I was booking my rental car while you were posting the recommendation. I had a nice talk with the guys at Thermal Fuel and it is significantly less than at Bermuda Dunes. The county is shutting down runway 12 from Thursday through Saturday to handle an expected 200 aircraft plus. Bring chocks.

Hello all,

I was really looking forward to going, but Pam and I will not make it. We are going to our nephew's homecoming football game in Nebraska; this is his last year in college. The old budget will only handle so many events. I will miss seeing you all there, and Pam said she would too.

You all be careful, and have fun!
Mike and Pam (Conway)

That's too bad, Mike. Wish you could make it. I'm still hoping the weather will be okay for me to make it from Salt Lake City!

CL

I'm going to try and arrive on the 7th so I can watch the parade of planes. I will stay until Wed night then other commitments require me to leave. Maybe plans will change and I can stay longer.

Wish you could stay longer, Bob, because most will be arriving Friday and Saturday. Anyway here is the current attendee list:

CalifDan in his Duchess, Chris in the Sierra, Mike P. commercially, Jeanne will fly or drive, Steven will drive, Mistermonorail in his Sierra.

So, a total of six parties. Some with spouses and some are bringing guests. Maybe more can make it so we have good represntation of baby Beeches.

See you there!
Chris

Which airport is everyone flying into? Since we are all BAC guys, I know I could just go to air nav and look for the cheapest gas for my answer ha ha. And hotel?

Bob-

The airport of choice is J. Cochran (KTRM). I am staying at the Hitlon Garden Inn on Hwy. 111.....assuming the weather cooperates. Read through the other replies and there may be some accommodations mentioned, I can't recall.

Hope to see you there! Come one, come all!

Chris L.

I've got a ticket voucher that expires 11/11 so I might burn it to come out and kick around that weekend, I'll drop some private messages if that happens.
