Hmm - if we had a trophy for the most miles to a BAC fly-in _without_ flying our aircraft we might have a in.
Candy and I drove to BACFest 2006 at the last minute, having planned to flly but having blinked in the game of chicken with a 300 mile stretch of below minimums ceiling as a newly (~2 weeks) rated instrument pilot. We did fly almost 1500nm to BACFest 2007 but that was the year that Mr. Jonas was a total ringer so why even bother ;-). We also drove to Tullahoma - it's really hard to convince the CFO (Candy) to fly when commercial is 1/2 the price and 3X as fast. And I was definitely planes, trains and automobiles to BACFest 2008 and AOPA Expo 2008 and 2006 (2007 was out having just spent a 3rd world countries GNP in AvGas for BACFests ~2500 nm loop).
However, having now been to 2006, 2007 and 2008 and interesting award for 2009 might be who has made all for BACFests.
BTW - Mike - maybe if you had done a full stop at South County you could have at
least had credit for 18nm

.
But at a more serious level - BAC is great and knowing I have instant friends all over the country has been a blast (hmm, any members - Candy and I are in the Greater Baltimore/DC area next weekend). A regular part of my travels has become looking up members whereever I'm going and making contact.
Also AOPA Expo is a great show and AOPA is a great organization. They are a little bigger than BAC. But they do a
lot for our interests in flying with GA. The fact that they have held dues to the same ~$40 for decades while having expanded services and scope so far while maintaining good fiscal managment is amazing.
Great to see all of you again. Especially Jeanne and Jeff - hopefully we can manage something to see you again before AOPA Expo 2010 in Long Beach - and with Candy this time. I really do have a wife named Candy, ask most of the other BAC members ;-).

P.S. Mike - I'll see you Wednesday for steaks (Bob, would you fly down for
beef !? Although with Mikes cholesterol I might have to teach him how to properly do Salmon on a grill).
