Westfield Fly-In, April 14

Orbiting Earth
Just a reminder that we are looking forward to a great time on the 14th at BAF.

We had a big crowd at the last Fly-In there and hope to beat that. Barnes Muni has new runways and taxiways since then and we might even get a tour of the new terminal building. This structure is replaceing the WPA era one that is there now.

Nevermind the airport, the Connecticut River Valley in spring is a nice flight. Come see the flooded river bottoms! (Kidding) But, depending on where you're coming from, you can gaze at the Catskills and Berkshires; or the White and Green Mountains; or come up across NYC (always a sight). You folks from the Metro Boston area can see for yourselves that the world does NOT end at I-495. (Sorry, one of those comments you get from the "Shays Republic" in Western Mass.)

See ya then,
Steve

A Challenge!

Steve Cote,

DIGGER HAS POSTED A FLY-IN FOR APRIL 14.

Is he trying to steal your participants?

Raise the anti! Throw in a good old Northeast Region bribe.

A Bribe?!? I have no recollection of...sorry, force of habit.
We don't need a bribe. We can do this on CHARM alone!

Those folks in Mid-Atlantic have had Spring for a month now...how exciting could that be? Up here in the Northeast, we are hardier due to blizzards and ice and blizzards and, er, more blizzards. Just think how much more exciting a Northeast Fly-in would be!!

Come see the glaciers crumble!
Watch the daring lumberjacks as they ride logs down ice clogged rivers!
Check out our "Mother-Of-All-Snowblowers" here at BAF!
Come see the Penguins v/s a Polar Bear in a "no holds barred" WFA event!!(That's Wings and Fur Association)

Mike Hippensteel, will you organize the border defenses along the Mid-Atlantic frontier? Digger, ya took Maryland in 1860 but that's all your gettin now!

Massachusetts or Maryland (or Georgia or Carolinas, etc.)

We want you people who are halfway between the April 14 Digger fly-in and the April 14 Steve Cote fly-in to take note. I have it on good authority that you will be invited to Westfield, Massachusetts with the lure:

"Step right up fellow pilots, ladies and gentlemen. See Steve Cote, Northeast Regional Director do his famous "pyramid dance of the centuries". He walks. He talks. He crawls on his belly like a reptile. Just show up. Not even the price of one tenth of a dollar" On April 14th, the show is ready to begin!

Digger - take note. You can't do better that this! (What state were you trying to drag us to?)

Tom Corcoran... Going to Westfield Mass.

TOM!
Give me a break, willya? It took me years to find a town that didn't know who I was after the last time you made me do that Hootchie Koothchie thing.
Long before there was a Sex Offender Registry there was a "Really Poor Taste Offender" Registry.

Look folks, come to the Westfield Fly-In. Maybe there will be side-show...but it would be a DUET, Tom.

ACTUALLY...We are expecting to have as a guest, Mr. Charles Cross, formerly of the Tuskeegee Airmen. He will give a talk on those fabled fighter pilots. (He and his fellows are enroute to the White House as we speak to be presented with a new medal. It's cool to have him as a neighbor.)

Steve

Steve-

I am going to show up regardlessof you do the Hootchie Koothchie thing again, weather permitting.

OK! That's 3; do I hear 4?

Thank you, sir,
That makes 3 of us, 4 if we include our speaker.
Of course we do have to keep our fingers crossed about Tom. He's one of those "coastal" Massachusetts people. You know, has to follow the coast line.
That's why he flits from Martha's Vineyard to PEI...it's all coast line. Tough going in Maine; in and out of each and every harbor and cove. But he gets there. (I follow the railroads, myself. No traffic with Amtrak's pitiful schedule.)
At least it all means that Tom will be at BAC Fest. It's on the coast and, well...

I'm goin'!!!

One question...

My plane is temporarily based @ HFD. 25 miles is lame, and even lamer for PT considerations, as I've never had a PT point.

Can I fly from HFD, say to PVD, THEN to BAF, and count the total miles?

I'm coming no matter what the answer is.

Thanks,
Barry

Nope, Sorry, Barry,
President's Trophy points are calculated on straight line distance, no extra legs. But here's a great idea!
You take Friday off (maybe Thursday too). Fly the Missus out to MVY for a nice romantic overnight. Then, on Saturday, your point of origin will be 65 miles further than Hartford would be! Simple.
And the best part is on Saturday BAC will feed you...since you won't have any money left after a night on Martha's Vineyard!
