***For those interested***
We'll organize a horseback 1-hr trail ride. $59/pp including transportation from lunch and back to airport, all very close. I'll need an RSVP 7-9 days before the event in order to ensure you have a horse.

Current 100LL is $4.75. We're getting truck full-service for the self-serve price. 20 cent savings per gallon!

Special VIP parking with tent and table will be provided by Sunriver.

For those interested in overnight accommodations.

No group rate is available as they require 10 pre-paid rooms. There is a 21-day cancellation policy. This may not be the best option for flyers.

Count me in. I will make the grueling 17.1 mile flight. Good thing we have a fuel war going on at BDN, 100LL right now is $3.49!

Nice John. Maybe you could buy some 100LL fuel hedges right now.

One of my favorite places. I've stayed there overnight a couple times. There can be significant crosswinds. I did OK when I flew in there in my Stinson. I may make that Fly-in.

Agree on the winds. Personal limits in that part of the country (or anywhere) are a must. I have cancelled trips across the Cascades for winds in excess of 15 kts at the surface.

Wife WANTS to go! So, count us in! Of course, the spring weather will be the determining factor. Has anyone contacted the lodge to get a group rate for the weekend? We'd probably fly part way and RON and show up on the 25th and spend the night there. If the accommodations aren't available, we just do lunch and fly BAC towards home and RON elsewhere.

No, I haven't reached out to Sunriver. I'll give them a call. You'r the first interested in RON. I'll advise. Please standby and do not adjust your tuning.

Also, if Marty agrees to show up, it'll instantly turn into maintenance seminar.

Marty,

Great choice! I have been to Sunriver twice for multiple day stays and always enjoyed it fantastically.

Bummed - - can't make it this time around.

I just checked the website and there are rooms available for a little less. I'm planning to stay the 25th and 26th. Here is what I got off the website:

Ponderosa 1King Guestroom

Recently remodeled beautiful guestroom with 1 king bed
River rock wall fireplace
Private deck or balcony
Flat screen TV, coffee maker, WiFi, small refrigerator

USD 159.00 / Night
Excluding 15% Resort Fee + Tax
Room Charges USD 159.00
Tax and Assessment USD 16.28
Resort Fee USD 23.85
Total Rate USD 199.13

I've stayed there in the Ponderosa King Guestroom (2005) and it was very comfortable. There is the 21 day cancellation policy to consider. Here is the link:

OK, I've done the flight planning. Due to the "Rules" we have to stop en-route and on the return for an overnight. The fuel cost, if prices hold, will be over $600 dollars at an economy power setting. Two nights at Sun River will be $400 dollars plus food and probably a drink or two. Counting the additional two days in a hotel, this trip will cost me ~$1500 to attend the lunch. The CFO thinks it best to skip this fly-in for one a little bit more local. She mentioned that there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Sorry guys, this eats too far into the fixed income I'm trying to learn how to live within. I'm still making interest payments on the Alaska trip. I'm going to have to miss this one. The Reno Air Races and BAC Fest are too important to me to miss for a fly-in.

Hi James.

I was boring holes in the sky the other day, and ended up landing at Sunriver. Talking to the managers (Scott and Stephanie) I asked them if they knew about our fly-in this April. It is now on their calender. They encourage using their facilities for this sort of event and will block out a parking area and provide a space if we would like to set up a "welcome tent" with our banner as a gathering place while we wait for other members to arrive. There was mention of a fuel discount and of course there is always the free bicycle use to roam the 35 miles of bike paths within the development. If you would like me to help, I can see what else I can arrange from them!

John

Excellent, thank you John. I did call their reservation number but not the ops. My guess we'll have 3-4 airplanes at the most. And it's just for lunch. Pretty low key anyway.

Hi John, I'm prepping for a save the date email to go out soon. I'd like to use you as my back-up in the event SEA weather becomes uncoperative. It would awesome to have a tent set up but my tent won't fit in the Sundowner.

I plan to be there plenty early if nothing else I'll just plane watch. I'll make a day of it and will enjoy the 4-hrs RT. If there anyone in the SEA would like to follow me down, please let me know. I hope to get airborne by 8AM.

Now I'm crossing my fingers for a big ole' high pressure system...and for Marty to dig into his TBC trust fund.

Hi all, we're one week away Sunriver. For those who want the do the 1-hr trail ride, please let me know today or at the latest tomorrow.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to meeting some NW Baby Beeches.

James
