Spring Bahamas Fly in 2014?

I bought some "SOSPenders" from a supplier on overstock.com. They seem better made and less expensive. Make sur you do not get the automatic inflate models since you need to be out of the plane before you inflate. I also have a Winslow Island Flyer Light raft. Some items can be rented in Florida but I suggest you read some of the safety articles before you bother with one of the lightweight types. Might not be worth having according to some reviews.
 
I don't know what the current FCC fees are but I don't think any are cheaper than before. In my trips I have never had a Bahamas official ask for my radio license. I have had US Customs ask for all sorts of things and never the same. Some want Pilot Lic and medical, some want to see Airplane registration. One time we were thouroughly searched when leaving the country, one time ramp checked. Most often though it is quick and simple, sometimes being told to keep walking unless another agent says to stop. Bahamas is really just a minute to fill out a C7A form and pay any fees. Some of the Bahamas fees had been waived for years but now are being collected. Plan on $25.00 or $50.00 when you arrive depending on weekday or Sunday rates.
 
I went to the FCC's website, and discovered that it's very, very confusing, and I'm quite computer savy. Took me quite a bit of time to determine where the RR license was, and I didn't find the part about the aircraft license for international travel. I got so frustrated that I gave up since I'm not planning any airplane international travel anytime soon. It's not required for domestic flight which has been stated here earlier. I'd didn't get far enough to see the fees involved, so I don't know if those quoted are correct or not.
 
Trust me, you want to get in and out of the Bahamas with little trouble, try taking a sack full of McDonald's hamburgers for the customs people. You will have absolutely no problems, and probably will not even pay a fee for entry. :D
 
haven't flown to the Bahamas in the last 6 yrs but prior to that lived in south florida and made trips at least every few months for years from 1968- 2009. I have had the FCC lic since 1969 and it has never been out of my wallet (it is VERYYY Yellow)--I have been ramped check numerous time, especially during the late 70's and 80's and never have been asked. But then it might be like carrying an umbrella and never raining.
 
Kentucky Fried works also. The American fast food joints are pretty much limited to Nassau, so they will take anything you will bring.
 
AOPA has some info on flying to the Bahamas.

Look under the Flight Planning tab.

It lists what you need and has link that will get you more info on the licenses. I didn't track all the way through but it looked like it would be helpful. If they don't have what you need try calling AOPA.

If Werbin and AOPA can't answer your questions you probably don't need to know the answer.
 
The FCC form is one form for a lot of different Licenses. I know I was able to work through it to get my paperwork renewed. But the darn form is confusing enough that it seems like a government project.
