Let's join in with a growing grass roots fly-in. Smoketown has long been a general aviation haven known for good food adjacent to the airport. Below is a synopsis of the event from the organizer. (We will have our banner and make our own photos too!)

1 Jan 2020: The Annual New Year's Day Fly-Out to Smoketown, PA 11th Year

-For a pilot, there is no better way to start the New Year than by FLYING and breaking open the logbook on New Year's Day!

-Come join us for our annual NEW Years Day Flight to Smoketown, PA, S37, a fantastic, friendly and fun little airport in Amish Country of Central PA! Cheap fuel available.

-Land and then a short walk over to Joni's 34 Diner!

-Land S37 between 11:30 and 11:50. Meet at the FBO for a group photo, and then all walk together over to Joni's Place 5 min walk, nearly connected to the airport -Late Lunch with your pilot buddies, old and new, at 12:00pm! Cash helps Joni, but all forms of payment taken. The lunch will take about an hour.

-There will be a very short dedication to all beloved aviators who Flew West in 2019.

-MUST be day VMC to go, pilot's call. Winds must be reasonable for light aircraft.

-No RSVP - just show and go! Looking for 5000 foot ceiling, 7 miles vis and winds less than 10 knots.

-Last year we had 20+ pilots meet, so this is a growing event. The variety of aircraft was something to behold.

What a great winter fly - out!

This will be a great event, IF Joni is still there. She's in the process of relocating the diner. Date unknown.

Somebody has to do something in the NE! I've got two coming up! I think I may run for NE RD next time!

I will take care of the meal (Plus a hefty tip!) and then submit it all to you for reimbursement. Not only am I invading the NE Region, I'm plundering too!

Missed it this year as my Sierra is down for her annual but my home airport is MQS (Chester County), 16miles as the crow flies. Definitely on the calendar for next year!

Another wonderful BAC event. I imagine pics will follow. Sadly, Joni is leaving. Her new location will not likely be in walking distance of the airport. She just doesn't have the volume required to maintain the business. Today was, happily, an exception for her. We even had some new BACers. Terry and Robin Danish. They are looking to buy a Sundowner or Sierra. Terry was previously a member, and will likely re-up. A very nice day.

Clear but gusty weather brought in an estimated 35 people to the annual Jan 1 Smoketown Fly-in. BAC members present were Bob Prange, Alan White and Les and Nahia Gawlik. In addition, Terry and Robin Danish from Broadheadsville, PA drove 2 hours to be there because they had found out we were coming and wanted to talk to someone about their Sundowner. The Danishes and Gawlik's hit it off and seemed to have a great time together. Since the Mid-Atlantic Region was once more invading and plundering the NE Region, we paid for their lunch too. Thanks Tom!

Another tribute to my management skills.
A successful fly-in at Smoketown, Pennsylvania.

Motivating Alan White to schedule this event in the Northeast Region was not difficult.
Even though I didn't lift a finger, I prevailed and Alan did a great job.
And thanks Alan for filling in for me as the round trip from Boston would have been almost 6 hours for my Sundowner.

This is a great club and I'm so glad we attracted both old and new members to the beautiful Northeast United States.
Remember, any BAC member can schedule an event anywhere when you coordinate with the region's director.
