SCBC/BAC Fly-In Breakfast, 34A, 9/23/07

Touring the Galaxy
This is just a reminder to take a look at the BAC Calendar entry for this event, so you can add it to your September Fly-In plans! Chad/Monty/Mike will be using this event as an initial Open House for the maintenance facility we now lease at 34A. Breakfast will be free to BAC members.

Particularly if you can stay past 1100, we should be able to do some walkarounds if desired, on member aircraft.

I'm planning on attending if I have a job by then. Otherwise gas $ is a bit short right now.

Just a reminder that the SCBC/BAC Fly-In and Open House at 34A will be held this coming Sunday, 9/23! I've been helping the FBO staff do some edging, mowing, etc. Breakfast is usually available from around 0800 to 1000. BAC Member breakfast will be on BAC, or on me.

A number of members have said that they hope to attend, including Philippe Davy in his Duchess. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again! Doug Muse plans to fly up Saturday AM, to bring the SE BAC Banner to place on the fence, and help us with the set-up. The banner will indicate the parking area for member aircraft, with other Beechcrafts lined up behind us.

See you there!

Went flying Mon nite to get both IFR and night current so that blew my meager gas budget for flying this month. See you at BACFEST next month.

Mike,

Still watching the "soon to be named Tropical Storm" off the coast of Tampa. If it heads west and stays south I should have no problems. If it follows some of the routes on the spaghetti model of turning north east as it moves north to the coast then I will be stuck. I will keep you up-to-date and call you with updates. I am hoping to squeeze out on Sat. some time but still have to make it home on Sunday. The plane is ready with the banner.

Keep your fingers crossed it heads west.

Fly-In Somewhere (34A)

As usual, we have to decifer the airport code to find out where a fly-in is being held. These computer-smart geeks forget the simplest things that normal people need to know.

This one says airport 34A or is it Route 34A, just past the corner where the red barn used to be?

Is that up near my place in Canada?

And, who is this Rellihan fellow?

I suppose that deciphering an airport code could be a challenge, for someone who gets educated on key life issues by watching cows....

Being a cop in the County you are about to visit.....and having patroled here for almost 10 1/2 years...I don't know of a red barn here....oh wait, I'm sorry , you must mean the Ole man Simpsons' feed store and farm equipment shop (been closed for over 20 years now just down the road from the Dairy Farm, but it's still over near the largest Cow field we've got in the county....last count there were about 45 or so head of cattle there....oops, sorry, was I not supposed to mention we had cows here?????

Still a mystery

Rellihan... I refuse to look up 34A in the directory. If you want me and the rest of us Northerners to visit you on your turf... you can take the suggestion of this marketing guy... TELL US WHERE THE ****ing airport is.

And last time you did a walk-around of my plane it cost me a bundle... yes, it did make it better... but "if you can't say something nice..."

Mike,

I am still watching Tropical Depression #10. If it will hurry up and move west to visit Cloyd I can get out of here in the morning and actually make it back on Sunday. I will check again in the morning and call you with the plans. Looking forward to seeing the BAC maintenance hangar. I really need my IFR ticket.

Doug

Doug, severe clear here tonight, after two days of clouds.

Tim, no way Tom will figure out a list of numbers that long....

Tom, pin the tail on the NW corner of South Carolina, where it touches GA and NC, up toward TN, and you'll be within about 75 miles of 34A. I assume you can find a whole state. If I can find a pimple like Charlottetown, you can find a wart like 34A.

Fly in 34A

Thanks again for attending, and for bringing Dave!

In addition to yourself and Dave, plus Greg Johnson and Mike Dawson, we had a later arrival. That Musketeer Super that taxied up as you were leaving was fellow member Don Pollack. Don didn't realize it would be over so early. We all went into town and had lunch, and walked around his plane while talking about things.

I'm glad some members were able to make it in, despite the scud lingering around the coastlines.

We had one Super arrive early. The pilot was not a BAC member, but said he was aware of the club. The BAC member list included:

Greg Johnson and Mike Dawson, in Greg's Sundowner;
Philippe Davy and friend Greg (from South Africa), in the Davy Duchess;
Don Pollock with his son David and friend Luke Mitchell, in Don's Super;
plus Mike Rellihan, and the Spencers Monty and Jim (based at 34A).

The total participation was about 130 people, and about 60 aircraft. Pretty good turnout. We had a full ramp and a full hangar, that's for sure.

all those numbers

So THAT was what all those numbers were... lingertood and longertoo - d.

I kept adding them up and couldn't figure it out. Subtracting made no sense either.

Glad that people made it to 34A... somewhere near SC, NC and KY... or was it Tennessee?

SCBC/BAC Fly-In Reminder - KLUX, 9/21, This Sunday

Just a bump for the big annual fly-in this coming Sunday at Laurens. If someone sends me a BAC banner, I'll have it on the fence by the FBO. All Beech drivers/BAC members will have preferred parking on the paved ramp east of the FBO building. Free breakfast for BAC members and their families or guests. Breakfast usually cranks up around 0830 or so, and wraps up by 10:30 or so.

Mike
How long will the event be? Don't get back from KC till 9ish then might head out if I get the plugs working. Wouldn't get there till lunch.
