Pell City this weekend

I'll see if Monty and/or his Dad can go with me. It is 221 NM WSW from KLUX. Assuming reasonable summer weather, of course.

pell city

My wife has promised me she will be up to snuff this weekend ... I am planning on attending .... invited a friend (non beech owner) to fly down from Gunnersville, Alabama ... he needs to see some real planes .... and I invited a friend to fly with me (not confirmed) as yet ... so let me know if there are any changes

I am hoping for late night storms so I can get there. I am sending out a SE email blast today about it and SAV trips.

Sammies

Doug: I plan to make it if the weather cooperates. Will be solo as Charlotte has a "girls weekend" thing, whatever that means. Rap

I'm not going to make it.

Going trade in Max (4 Runner with 235K miles) on the cash for clunkers program B4 the $$$ runs out.

I am stuck with low clouds at the moment. The afternoon is looking GREAT! If you miss lunch at KPLR come over to KCSG for Ribs at 6pm. Look for the smoke off 13/31 between taxiway D2/D3. You can park the plane near the ribs.

Doug: Me too, below personal minimums at KALX and KPLR is reporting 500ft overcast. Looks like I'm gonna miss another one. Rap

Tom and Faye Kinstler (local), and Steve Maggio and friend Jonathon Cartee made it in N3606Q. Steve flew up from Gulfport Mississippi for an interesting flight in "unsettled" weather. All enjoyed artery-clogging, finger-lickin-good cheeseburgers w/ appropriate sides. Great conversation, plans for other meetings, fly-ins in Alabama.

One good idea for Fall or next Spring would be an overnight at Guntersville State Park which has recently renovated their lodge. Restaurant is very good, scenery is very nice, wildlife (bald eagles), golf course, not outrageously expensive rooms, and might be able to arrange a boat trip on the Tennessee River/Guntersville Lake through Jonathon.

A Sierra arrived and I went out to greet them, however they were not from BAC. My "missionary" speech about BAC didn't produce immediate results.

Given that the heavens really opened up late in the afternoon, I suspect that Steve has added considerably to his experience bank on the trip home to Stennis.

Keep Sammy's in the fly-in rotation from time to time.

Wish Monty and I could have made it. Wound up taking care of Skye and a sick Paula, instead. Ain't that a switch....

Tom,

Thanks for the updates. We need to start planning lunch around 3pm as the weather was perfect then.

Remind me after the 1st of the year for Guntersville for the 2010 event planning.

Will do on the 2010 reminder. Check out:

http://www.alapark.com/lakeguntersville/

They have "Eagle weekends" in January and first week of February 2010 w/ naturalists, hikes, etc. May be of interest to some in Winter

Spring and Fall would be golf, Bass fishing I understand is "world class," although I can't say as I'm not a fisherman - Lake is really popular for fishing tournaments. Summer has golf, fishing, hanging out, loafing, boating, beach (or is it "Beech"). Airport has a lot of "character," is across the lake, so transport needs to be organized, which I can do as I'm more or less local. BTW, the lodge is not that far by A/C from Tullahoma (~45 minutes due North), and the Fall weather is usually excellent. Maybe could do some sort of regional thing.
