Northeast Region Fly-In: Greenwood Lake

Orbiting Earth
D'ya remember my ill fated "First Fly-In of the Year"? Well, we're gonna try it again. Let's see it snow on us this time!

Saturday, Aug 25th, 10:00 to ???? at Greenwood Lake (4N1) in W.Milford NJ.
Loose program, we will meet in their "conference" room for socializing and then have a cookout. Those of you in the western part of the NE Region have been sorely neglected in the last few years. But now you are beginning to outnumber us hardcore Yankees in New England. (How can we be Yankees if we root for the Red Sox?? Oh, never mind.)

Just a note on the field. This is the same place I raved about in the last BAC Talk. However the winds of change have blown through there. For one, the partnership running that great restaurant has broken up!! The good news is that the airport is well on track to replace the management with a new group.

Second, to my dismay, Greenwood Lakes Training, one of the two schools on the field, has succumbed to business pressures. Joe and Gabbi, if you read this, my condolences.
The unfortunate demise of one business does, however, open the door to resurrect the original purpose for bringing in the "Champagne Lady", the Lockeed Constellation parked on field. The intent is to renovate her and turn her into a club/lounge as intended in the 80's.

So come on down and join me on the 25th...and, hey, there will be NO snow dancing prior to that date. Ya hear me?

Greenwood Lake

Steve,

I would love to join you and the other guys/gals on August 25th but I will still be in Canada.

How about a Northeast BAC fly-in during AOPA at Hartford, Connecticut in October! I'll help.

Say, Tom! Have you mowed out that old runway beside the house again this year?! All those exciting memories... It would take your mind off of the cows....

It was 77 degrees here again, at 0730 this morning, in the back yard of the Laurens farm. That means it will hit 99 or 100 this afternoon, for the third straight day. I have never seen it get this hot here before (though I'm sure it has, and probably will again). I hope that those 65-degree nights arrive sooner rather than later.

Workin' on it

Tom,
Yes, there will be some kind of official BAC event during the AOPA Expo; just not sure what yet.

Probable candidates are a luncheon or dinner. All I need is some indication of who will be there on which days.

I plan on attending the AOPA expo for one or two days. I haven't
decided on which days yet. I also hope to go to Greenwood but
I can't be definite just yet.

Steve,

It wasn't all THAT ill fated - I made it there! Granted I drove there and was the only BACer at the airport it's always worth the trip to see the Connie. I plan on attending on the 25th by air this time if possible!

Also plan on attending the AOPA Expo but not sure which days - hopefully all of them!

Steve's a busy guy so I guess I'll have to add this additional incentive. The EAA B17, Aluminum Overcast, will be in the neighborhood next weekend. Perhaps he planned it?

The B17 will be at Essex County Airport (KCD- about 10 nm south) from Friday until Sunday in case anyone is interested in a RON fly-in/fly-out.
Additional info can be found at ==> http://www.b17.org/

I'll be driving in, again, this time so I can provide local ground transportation if needed.
