Climbing to Cruise
Hey all, in August when it's horribly hot and everyone has time off...I'd love to have you all at a FLY-IN at Biddeford Maine Airport (B19).

Biddeford is having their annual Open House on Saturday August 17 2019 (rain date Sunday August 18 ) and would be thrilled to have BAC planes lined up on the flight line for all the locals to see. And, there is a local restaurant that can send a bus over to pick us up for lunch and bring us back. There is parking room for at least 15 planes. Open House is approx 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

---AND---
current 100LL fuel price is $4.69/gal (!) and a good A&P on the field

I live about 13 miles away near Scarborough Beach, and if anyone wants to go for a swim at the beach I will transport them out & back. If the weather holds for Saturday and Sunday, I could put up a few folks at our house overnight. Maybe lobstahs that evening too...

At B19 is a Skipper, a Musketeer and a Super III; there used to be a Duchess but it sold in March. There might also be some Sundowners hiding the hangars. As far as I know, I am the only BAC member in the local area, so together we can look for recruits.

If you have questions, I'm at [email protected]

Look forward to seeing you Glenn!

We have everything pretty much figured out except the weather, unless all 850 BAC members show up!

Lisa,

We are looking forward to you hosting the Biddeford Fly-In.
Choosing the same day as the airport open house adds to the entertainment.
Being the Maine region director for BAC I can sweeten the offer...
BAC will buy lunch for members and their flying companions who participate.
Also, each member will get a Beech Aero Club signal kit. These were prepared to help downed planes get noticed by searchers.
We have some tool bags and ammo boxers left from previous fly-ins which will be distributed while they last.
Members who arrive will be credited for president's points which comes with attaboys at BACFest.

I will be flying from my base of 1B9 to your base of B19. A coincidence.

Tom Corcoran btw: Our club is only inches from having 700 members. 850 is a future goal.

Hope you can make it Charlie! If you do, just beware a 150 wind at Biddeford when using runway 24, it gets quite a swirl coming over the trees, See you next month, weather willing

This might be doable for Mary and I.

We can do the fly in then head over for a couple of days in Bar Harbor. Or we can head back towards Boston to visit family.

Gary,
It would be a joy to see you and Mary in Maine. We expected a siting of you two in Denver in September but this will be a special treat. If Margie and I can help you in Boston we are happy to do it. Our house is in Braintree just 11 miles south of Boston. Nearest airport is Norwood KOWD.

Sure wish we lived closer, Lisa!

Candy, me too!! At least we'll all be living REALLY close for a few days in September, we'll hafta pack a lot of catching up into that time. Y'know, if Mark would hurry up on inventing that teleporter that he should invent, all this would be solved. But we still need our airplanes.

And I'd like to hear about your Oshkosh adventures. I keep moving farther away from WI, I may never get there

Gary, it'd be great to see you 2 in Biddeford! We took a day trip to Bar Harbor about 3 weeks ago, took exactly one hour from here (we bent the course a bit to stay over more dry land...) and Columbia Air Services at BHB treated us well. You could make it in 45 minutes. Lots of jets there,we felt small. Also, if you have a Natl Parks pass, you can ride the shuttle bus for free and forget renting a car. Driving in Acadia N.P. is like walking through molasses.

Tom, you sure know how to prime the pump! This is a great interest level and I am very excited about it all! By the way, the restaurant that has the bus is named Bentley's and it is in Arundel. I will talk to them this week to finalize it. Thank you much for the BAC lunch offer too, this will work out really well.
I'm now going to look up 1B9...

Be the first BAC member to find the Mystery Sundowner at the August 17th Fly-In at Biddeford, Maine and win a 40 piece socket wrench set.

Weather looks cooperative so far. Let's hope it holds out.

Where do they keep the lobsters at the airport?

This should be a really good fly-in.
Biddeford has avgas priced very low for the area (circa Boston/Portland).
Lisa will make arrangements for parking and arrange for the van to take us to a restaurant.
To be determined: If we can land and take off without restriction as this is also a public open house.
As for lobster... good luck!
My email is [email protected] and Lisa should contact me asap.

Came back early Saturday with an unfamiliar vibration. Don't know if 58L will be cleared by this week. I'll drive up if needed.
See you there,
Steve
