Luray Caverns Fly-In (KLUA) January 25

I'm hearing light snow flurries and windy for Sat.Are we still on? As it is now, I'm still in. Hate to brave the elements to find I'm the only that showed up! Anyone know if a C150 is certified for FIKI?

Just checking in .Sunday looks better weatherwise anyone interested in changing to Sunday ?Who is in so far for tomorrow ?

I can do tomorrow, but it looks like a morning decision; TAF for Charlottesville to the south looks OK, Martinsburg to the north will be a bit windy plus lower ceilings. Luray should be something in between. The main thing is a 3,000 or 4,000 ceiling doesn't leave much room to clear the Blue Ridge.

John, can you use your Hollywood ties and get George Kennedy to show up? He can help us get out of the snow bank!

Sunday looks sunny but it'll be windy as all get-out...cold front passage late Saturday. Probably can't do Sunday; I'm back on call Sunday afternoon.

Bob, George Kennedy with the plane Mach up reminded me of one of our maintenance clinics . :) .I think we should have a am decision on tomorrow .8 am .Don ,we should be out by 2 pm. I can be reached @ 703 723 0986 everyone .

If you get weathered out, you locals might want to check out the NASM museum website for today's event. A short drive to Dulles area for you.

Good call on the no go. I'm looking at 13kts gusting to 22 on the ground. Too much for my plane if discretionary. Need to drive a propane delivery truck tomorrow so Sunday is out for me. Yesterday would have been perfect weather-wise! Hope to see everyone soon.

last minute change of plans. Air and space museum @ Dulles tour today @ 130 pm .Paul is driving in from Va Beach so I will meet him . He said they are showing a movie and giving an interesting tour of previously un available items.Everyone welcome !!!!Its Free (just pay parking)

So I went flying anyways. 210 @ 14 G22 a little bumpy from surface to about 2500. 30 minutes to a small airport to the southeast of Winston Salem. We planed on eating lunch there but the winds were variable from 110 to 290 @ 16 G24. I swear I saw the sock do a 360 turn or it look like it did from1500 ft. over head. I decided to leave that for the bold pilots. 1.6 hr. flight back home little bumpy on approach. The 396 lost sat. signal on the way back not sure what that is but it never regained signal. Still not a bad day. Good call on the no-go, it would have been pretty ruff in the hills.

I'm a no-go for the next two week ends. I have family obligations next week end and the "Winston Salem Fly Fishing Show" is in town the week after.

Alan how have you been?

Good, other than throwing my back out! I wasn't looking forward to getting bumped around even if it was just a short hop for me! You doing well?

Alan
