Let's have some BBQ at K81

Jane and I made it back to KSPI just in front of the storms! 4.6 hours for the round trip. We had a great time and can't wait for the next mid west flyin!

We had a good trip home with an interesting weather event. About 50 miles out we crossed the cold front at 9,500. We could see the ground, but it was very hazy. Watching metars by ADS-B in on the IPad, vis went to IFR below us with 2-1/2 miles and clear skies. Landed at home with 7 miles of visibility and found out it was smoke from the Canadian wild fires that followed the front. Our timing for heading home allowed just enough time for the front to pass I75.
Great fun today, look forward to the next one.

Linda and I drove home Sunday after doing some shopping that morning. Then stopped at Abilene to tour President Eisenhower's memorial. Very inspiring. We listed to Nebraska radio stations as there was a tornado about 10 miles from McCook, our home airport with severe TRW's to the southwest heading northwest. Hate to admit it, but was glad to be on the ground. Stopped at Hayes, KS for supper and had torrential rain and pea sized hail while in the restaurant.
We had a great time at this fly-in as eleven people showed up. They are what made this so successful and fun. I think everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship at the We B Smokin' restaurant. Here are some pictures:
