One of these days I'll surprise you guys - I love St. Augustine... About 8 hours flight time for me though - would need to combine a fly-in with a real vacation... Hope you get a good turn out...
:)

Regard,
Scott

Scott,
Come on down!!! That is a long way for lunch; however, we are considering having the second version of “Nights of Lights” in St. Augustine this year. Do you have any vacation time left?
I have to co-ordinate with SAAPA (St. Augustine Pilots Association) if we are going to attend their Christmas party as part of our activities, so a decision will be made in the next month.
If any members have an interest in attending, please let me know as that will be the major determining factor for our decision.
Thanks,

Dave-I am putting the date on the calendar and hoping wx and job permitting to be there , again, to see all you guys. Had a great time for the last party we came down for. fred/steffi and ?????

Weather permitting, Tim Hill (N2Sky7) and myself will be coming down noon-ish, but the weather has been plain filthy for weeks here in Savannah. Currently there's a 60% probability of T-Storms...

Fred, Steffi, Joe and Tim, Gary and James,
Looking forward to seeing all of you. Don't worry about the end time, we will stay as long as anyone is here. We will have to discuss what we need to do to improve our 2nd annual KSGJ, St. Augustine "Night of Lights" Fly-in. Jane and I are looking forward to seeing everyone. Scott, think, December in Florida!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

Anytime you make it this far south, I will plan my vacation time and connections for great harbour cay and the lady I know with the rentals right at the parking end of the runway. Fly in, clear customs, practically taxi to your room, and enter through back door, walk out front door, on to the beach.

P.S. don't give Corcoran this information, don't want him to ruin it for the rest of us. :)

I'll be in Florida in December. Maybe my week vacation will coincide with Dave's Christmas fly in.
As for Jim Olsen... everybody knows about lawyers. Watch what you say and don't believe everthing they say.
I did go flying with Jim and we flew over the 15,000' Space Shuttle runway just after it opened to the public.
He's a good guy to be with and is a good pilot.
I have stated the above facts in hopes that he will be near St. Augustine to give me a ride.
Google "You Tube Space Shuttle Runway Movie" to see Jim in action.

Tom Corcoran, presently in Atlantic Canada, soon to be home in Braintree, Massachusetts

I am interested in the December event. I had planned on coming last year but... Things happen, but hopefully all that will be finished by December and I will still have a plane. So count me in.

j.w.

It was the wild west after they opened up the runway for low flyovers. KMCO said it had authority over the airspace, Melbourne thought it was responsible, and on even a few occasions, NASA Tower would take control. We were talking to MCO, who sent us right base for 15. The others were talking to Melbourne who assigned them 33. Caught us all by surprise and caused a little bit of a stir. We reported it to MCO (who saw it on radar), MCO heatedly said that they were not talking to the right controller and they were at fault, they returned to the same frequency, and basically told the MCO controller BS, we were talking to Melbourne and that MCO and I was the one at fault. I think that is what prompted them to work it out, as I have done that flight several times with no incidents, speaking to MCO the entire time.

At least we were assigned different altitudes :) Plus, they were easy to spot flying in formation.

Well, I'm going to cancel now. I discussed it with Tim, and the weather is simply NOT going to cooperate. It's going to be filthy, wet, windy, and thunderstorms, same as today, yesterday, the day before, and... well you get the picture.

Sorry, guys.

Joe and Tim,

It does not look like it is going to get any better, from the North side of Jacksonville to well past KSAV for a few days. We hope that you make it down another time, soon.

Thanks for trying,
Dave

Our Fly-in turned into a "drive-in" due to weather. Three members and spouses attended. We only hope for better weather next time. Pictures will follow later. I am going flying this morning, (before the daily thunderstorms).

I am still hoping some members in the SE Region can host fly-ins this year. Brad is doing well with his events. Thanks Brad. If anyone needs any assistance in hosting a fly-in, or other club related event, please contact me. You efforts will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
