Help needed for Arlington 2011 Fly in

John,

I don't have a problem with that. But, I'll defer the final say so to the RD. It would be nice if he signs on to the BAC to learn more about the airplane he's flying. The price isn't much and the information, even for an occasional renter/user, would make the membership useful.

Mark, a slight change of plans. S-n-F is out this year. I have some weekend plans for April 1st - 3rd, but will be back after then.

John ... I see no reason he can't join in the fun .... Besides.... It's a SIERRA!!!

Maybe (as said Marty) he can be persuaded now, or later to join up for added benefits. But for now we'd love to have him. Make sure you register him as a BAC attendee even as a guest! I got your PM and am on it.

Thom,

I'm fine with the schedule...... That would be nice to have another plane to join us! Especially since your's will be missing most of the event. AHHhhhhhh but it's little sister, MA-273 will be there to take it's place :)

Marty, sorry to hear about Sun N Fun. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon, the 25th and Dawn on the 2nd. We should be free anytime! ....... and hopefully more time to goof off :)

Mark

Whaddaya mean MA 273 will be there?...... are you going to tow her over on a trailer? Or is there good news to be told?

OK, we are in! By "we" I mean me, my dad and brother(brother is tentative). We will arrive in the late morning Thursday and plan to leave Saturday morning. This is our first fly-in so I will call us "newbs".

We want to volunteer for 2 of those time slots that are still open Thursday and Friday. The 3-5 on Thursday (in case we get weather delayed coming in) and the 2-5pm Friday are great.

What should we expect as far as camping at Arlington? It looks like the deal for people staying more than a day is to purchase a week pass for $15.00?

Great news.... I will put you don for those slots, and I BELIEVE there is still one or two week passes available for BAC members that volunteer. So there should be at least one.... I need to check to make sure.

Arlington is shaping up!!!

Marty;
Have you checked the schedule lately? Only a couple of slots open, so the call has been answered. There are all 5 free wristbands spoken for as well.
If you know of any other changes modifications that need made (no... not on the Sierra!) let me know so's I can post the info. Obviously, of the two car passes (for parking inside the gates) you will need one for the Suburban, and whoever steps up and says they need one ..... well you can decide what's best.

Sounds like it shaping up to be a GREAT fly-in.

Here's a recap of the volunteers as it stands.....

Thom,

Looks good. I'll take any empty slots left, if necessary. I'm still working on the BAC get-together event. Hope the weather will be as nice as last year. I'd like to see you make one day. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am trying to figure this out:

"there is no camping charge for camping under the wing of your airplane."

I don't think I can pitch a tent under the wing of the Sierra. Any recommendations? We can erect a tent by the side of the plane and still no charge, right?

Jon,

You can pitch a tent next to your airplane if you want. I think Jack Becker does and so does Mark Hoskins. It's a walk to the showers though.

The walk to the showers is great - you get to look at airplanes all the way. What could be better.

Unbeknown to me when I was inquiring about tents, my father rented a double at Quality Inn. Anyone else staying there? Jack I appreciate the encouragement, sounds like airplane Wally World, I can't wait!

You have to admire a Dad who responds to the opportunity of sleeping on the ground with a pre-emptive hotel reservation. Arlington is a great gathering, you will have a great time.

LOL! Yup, good 'ole dad. Can't take the city out of the man from Staten Island. Incidentally, the only camping (that I am aware of) that he has done, was survival training somewhere in the WA wilderness...

Hi Thom, I'm a fairly new member and have never been to a BAC function. I think I could help out on the open shifts Sat and Sun afternoon. Can you tell me what is involved with manning the booth and what you need me to do? Thanks. Keaton

Keaton,

Pretty simple, show up and promote the BAC from the booth. We generally have some extra issue of BAC talk to give away. Just add your name to the open slots you'd like to work.
