Help needed for Arlington 2011 Fly in

ThomSmith

Flight Levels
Well it's time to start planning once more....... and this year we need some special help.
This year the Fly-in is scheduled for the 6th - 10th of July

Before we commit to participating in the event, we need to ask for some SERIOUS assistance.

In years past I have pretty much ran all the leg work as well as manning the booth at least parts of all 5 days of the fly in.

This year, that will not be possible. I am committed to be out of the state on the 8th - 10th and am hoping (read: begging) to get someone to step up and sort of run the show for the BAC booth.

I am still willing to do all the leg work, including the gathering of volunteers and making all the arrangements with the Arlington staff, but we need to move RIGHT AWAY!

They have been gracious enough to continue their "special" deal with us as far as the booth fee goes.... And the Executive committee feels (as do I) that it would be a shame to lose the momentum we have produced thus far by our presence.

This is a call to action, preliminary as it may be, but we need to commit with the staff there ASAP. But I personally just cannot commit to the entire show this year.

PLEASE examine your circumstances and see if you can't make room in your schedule to step up to the bat. I would consider it a pleasure to help all the way till the last possible moment, in any way I can!

Please email me at [email protected] with any questions or volunteer offers.

OR you can leave questions and opinions in this thread.

more later...............

We need help for this event or we may have to cancell cub presence. please get ahold of Thom to see how you can help. Thanks.

It looks like I'm going to be there. I will expect to see you there John. Also Jack and Mark. Do bring the girls with you as I will also (I hope). I'll bet that Ben and Heather will make it from Sun River, then we can have a family get together, with the exception of Uncle Thom. It would be nice to see other club members there too. I expect that Jon from Hillsboro will make it up and perhaps more of the Northwest region will be in attendance this year. We have a great tradition started and I'd like to see it flourish and blossom into the most significant BAC event on the Left Coast. This is a great fly-in that grows every year. The PacNorWest is the best kept summer getaway secret in America. The weather is great and plenty of niffty airplanes and events to see at Arlington. So, make your plans and get your reservations in now........ don't forget the umbrellas.

I expect we'll be there Wednesday and Thursday as usual. Robin and I really enjoy the excuse to camp next to (the tent won't fit under) our wing. See you in July.

Orcas Is.

This year im going to fly down and bring a bubby. Judy is going away to Edmonton AB wiyh her sisters to see her grandma, it will be the first time im going over the border with the plane. If i do something wrong and get thrown in jail at lest you guys can come and visit.

John,

Don't worry, I'm bringin' the artillery, if you get thrown in the slammer, you get one phone call, call us and we'll spring ya!

Jon,

Will be good to met you. I really hope you can make it.

All, we will have to work on an "evening BAC event". Seafood last year, maybe we can try the new steakhouse at the Casino just up the hill from the Skykomish River. Also, make your reservations now! Hotels will be filling up fast. I'm hoping for the keys to the Suburban again, so I should be able to provide transport to and from. Last year I broke away on Saturday and flew to Roche Harbor. Great lunch! Maybe we can do something similar instead of dinner. Perhaps Orcas Island. Love to see a formation of 5 or 6 Mouse's over Puget Sound. That would make another great picture.

I am so happy Marty has stepped up to run the show this year.... He already sounds like he has a great handle on things! Looking forward to another memorable event! I just posted a news article, so PLEASE... everyone interested in volunteering, or even if you just plan to attend for a short time, stay tuned to this thread for the latest info.

Your posting in this forum thread also keeps it alive, instead of rolling off the home page, and keeps it fresh in everyone's mind.

You will not regret attending and volunteering, ask anyone who has.

I will update the news article after I get home tonight.

Well, we have one Volunteer.... John Radysh from Quesnel BC will be flying down Thursday, and if if our EAPIS guinea pig doesn't get thrown in jail, he will man the booth at least on Friday and Saturday from 11am-1pm.

Thanks John!

Marty,
It would be great to fly somewhere for dinner, the only thing is no beer with dinner but that isn't that big of a deal .

Thanks John and Jack! Your time and effort is appreciated.

I'm still working on the Arlington fly-in BAC event. It could be a luncheon. There are issues with departing and returning to KAWO during the fly-in, but not insurmountable. Lot's of possibilities in the Puget Sound area without going a good distance. That is IF we fly somewhere. There are the islands, Roach Harbor or possibly Orcas. There is also Port Townsend (once known as "Hootersville".... but I don't know why?) and other flying destinations that offer a nice place to land and some good food. But, I am sure that even if it is a local evening event, it will be a good one. I'll be networking with my good bud's in the area to see what is new and what is good. I will bet this will be the best Arlington ever for BAC. At least I'll be doing my best to make it so.

I hope that all members within Mouse range can make an effort to be at Arlington this year. I promise the weather will be excellent... don't forget to bring umbrellas..... er... just in case my request for good weather is misplaced by the weather gods. I thought I had a good rapport with them last year......??

I will bet this will be the best Arlington ever for BAC

Great Marty, just great! Rub it in why don't ya!

But really........ a big thanx to John & Jack and all who volunteer.

Marty, You'd better take LOTS of pictures!

You guys can probably tell I haven't been on the site in a while! The last month has been a busy one for me....

Dawn and I will certainly be there and I'm more then willing to handle some shifts and anything else required at the booth. Marty, great to hear that you'll be attending! I hope that doesn't mean your other trip was canceled? I'm sure my neighbor Miguel will be hosting their Fly In party up here at Frontier again on Saturday night, and you guys are all invited... usually a lot of fun. I can't wait for summer and to see my friends at Arlington. The sun has been absent around here we've been getting drenched this winter!

By the way Marty, I'll be flying down to Chandler in a week and Dawn will be joining me on April 2nd. I hope you'll come visit us at the Air Park home.

Mark,

Can I put you down for some shifts at the booth? As you can see, there has been very little involvement/commitment up to this point. I am still taking the load off Marty and arranging everything.

Marty, did you get a check for / and arrange for the furnishings?

I sure hope to make at least one day of Arlington!

Thom,

I did get the check. I did not arrange for the furnishings... yet.

Mark,

I'll be at Sun-n-Fun by the end of the month. I'll return sometime in early April. Hope you'll still be in town.

Thom, yes.... put me down for some shifts. I do hope we get a few more people involved! :)

Marty, we'll be in Chandler until April 11th, hope you're back by then......

Mark Hoskins

Mark & Marty......

Please check the schedule to see if there are any conflicts for either of you. Let me know of any changes you'd like.

And ANYONE ELSE wanting to assist, we are happy and very willing to modify the schedule to accommodate your desired slots!!

REMEMBER- the first five volunteers get FREE ADMISSION for the whole week!

Marty & Mark, you guys get the two free parking permits .... unless you don't think you'll need them Let me know.

Thom. I may have a Sierra following me down, he isn't a member and he is borrowing the plane from a fellow that doesn't fly much at this airport. Do you think he can park beside us and camp with his family let me know.
