What did fly in today was a bit of a surprise. I figured it was one our our Canuck versions but was wrong.
I have always figured that every turbine helicopter in Alberta lands here at Josephburg for Jet A-1, and every light plane to and from Alaska as well, for 100LL.
Today was a bit different and I learned something. Not only do we have Jet A-1, we also have the single point pressure refueling system as well.
I hesitate to call it high pressure as it took an hour to load on 3,000 litres (800 US gallons) but we do have that single point refueling setup.
The CH-47 came out of Fairbanks enroute to California so they have a bit of a distance to go yet. Smoke, low ceilings and icing have been a fuss for them the last few days. We do summer up here a bit different. There were hoping to overnight in Montana this evening.
I must say that the crew, all young guys, were certainly a nice clean cut polite cheerful group. They are a real credit to your Army.
