Get your phone number from www.gastons.com, if you are looking into room reservations. The airport identifier is 3M0 (Three Mike Zero)

BPK is the nearest paved airport if you are interested in staying in town, each year we try to have a rented vehicle just in case. Also, with a call down to Gastons, they will send the van for you.

I'll post more about Gastons over the next week or two, and hope to see several BACers at Gastons

Jay

An overview of Gastons can be had by going on the internet to www.gastons.com. Remember the identifier is Three Mike Zero (3m0), so you don't confuse it with a place about 100 miles from there that has a very similar identifier.

Gastons has a very nice grass strip that is to be used as 1 way in and 1 way out. All Landing are made from the East going West, and all Takeoffs are from the West travelling East.

Gastons is Daylight VFR only. There are NO LIGHTS and when you see the nearby cliffs and hills, you too will appreciate that no one wants to be trying to find it in the dark.

You can find photos by going to the photo gallery, then go to South Central Fly In's, then you double click on Gastons Planning. They are the IN and OUT of Gastons from a plane.

This is a great opportunity to see some impressive country if you have not made the trip in the past. If you have, you know what I'm talking about. I would like to get an idea on how many people to plan for, so If you have not spoken up yet, or if your plans have changed, please let me know.

Also, I am trying to decide if I want to try to get a spot at Gaston's this year or if we are going to stay in town like we usually do... See, I usually plan on staying in town so I can have a rental car available for anyone that is staying in town or arriving after dark. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Gaston's.

Thanks
Jay

Weather permitting, we'll be there.

After racking up 1340nm to Santa Maria, the mileage to Gaston's will give us a shot at the PT.

Bo & Sandra

Brad & Ann are planning on being there. May think about a stop in Sikeston for lunch at Lambert's on Friday. Have not made reservations yet, but plan to stay at Gaston's resort both Friday & Saturday nights.

If anyone else is interested in lunch at Lambert's on Friday, let me know.

The Rellihans (all three) plan to be there from Friday through Wednesday. Some more fly-fishing for Trout is in the offing for Ms Paula and Skye. Paula hauls them in and Skye tries to follow them back out (mostly catch-and-release, except for the two for dinner). I hold on to the rope attached to Skye's life jacket, so he can't get too far a-field, or a-water....

As one trout fisherman to another, good luck to Paula and Skye!!! Wish I could be there....maybe next year!
Fly safely,
Chris

Bo, it will be great to see you again. Here's hoping for good weather.

By the way, are you planning on being in for the Friday night dinner or arriving on Saturday?

Haven't started planning yet. We will leave here on Friday and probably return on Sunday. That is all I know at the moment.

Friday night dinner? Where?

Bo

Gastons weekend

Violet & Ron Powell are planning to be at Gastons weather permiting. I think we will be staying in town. Cant cancel if bad weather at Gastons. We will come Sat. morning I think & leave Sun. PM. Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great time. 10-28-08 Ron & Vi are staying at Copper Johns Resort which is 3/4 mi. up river from Gastons. We will land at Gastons and Copper John will pick us up . Looks like a nice place on the web.

Ron, you should at least make a landing at Gaston's so the usual suspects can give you a grade. Then you could make the short hop back to BPK and send for the van.

Ron, looking forward to visiting with you again.

Bo, dinner Friday night is a Gaston's for those who make it in on Friday. They do a good lunch, and they do a really good dinner...

Numbers are starting to look up, I wasn't sure we were going to have very many this year. Now if the weather cooperates we will be in good shape.

ok......

We will fly to BPK Friday afternoon, arriving about 3PM. I assume that ground transportation to Gaston's will be available for the dinner.

Then fly to Gaston's Sat AM for the day and back to BPK for Sat evening.

Where is everyone staying at Mountain Home?

Bo & Sandra

Bo, I don't know if you provided your route to (or from) bac fest, for the PT points. If you didn't, Cloyd used a straight line distance for you. You could pick up several hundred miles by emailing him your route (airports you stopped at) and the overall mileage. Use either leg (going to or coming from Bac Fest).

The same is true for anyone else that flew their plane to bac fest.

Claim your PT points!!

I don't yet have transportation info for Gaston's, got busy at work.

JB

Ann and I plan on being there depending on the "ifs".

If we get our airplane back
If we don't have guests
If we have good flying weather

Looking forward to seeing all of you,

Dan and Ann

Becky and I are planning on arriving saturday morning around 10am and will probably depart around 2 or 3pm. Look forward to seeing all of you again.

Gene

Just checking my numbers here, but it looks like we have 2 planes that will be arriving at BPK on Friday and staying in town. That's 4 people that will need transportation to Gaston's and then later back to the Hotel. Let me know if I've miscounted somewhere.

I have also heard from 2 people off the site that are planning on arriving Saturday. This looks like it could be our biggest Gaston's event yet.
Thanks
JB

Ron and Bo, I've sent you emails concerning ground transportation. (just in case you check here first before checking your email...)

How does 7:00 pm dinner reservations sound to everyone that will be in town Friday night?

Saturday breakfast on your own, and group lunch at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Departures usually are between 2 and 3 for everyone except those leaving the next day.

Thanks
JB
