Fly Over the Boston Marathon

This is the only official BAC fly-in where we meet in the air. We will do this with a lot of other air traffic over Hopkinton, Massachusetts. That's the starting place of the Boston Marathon. Briefly, we meet and see 25,000+ runners. Then fly the marathon route as far as the edge of the Boston Class Bravo (8dme from BOS). Fly to the airport in nearby Norwood (KOWD) and get in the official BAC van. We then drive to the race halfway point just in time to see the lead runners pass. While we are...

Tom's been posting this event every year and so far there's been no flight restriction except for the usual, busy Boston air space.

I think the TFR only applies to drones. If it applies to manned aircraft that would be new. However, I will check with the Boston FSDO and report here. Thanks for the heads-up.
drift... Reading the text of 5/6001 made me notice that NOTAMS are still published in ALL CAPS and are made even more difficult to read by homemade abbreviations. These days we have enough bandwidth to make NOTAMS (air missions) be reader friendly.
 
Boston Marathon Fly-In was a success. Glad to see more participation from last year.

Longest distance was Gordon Jessup traveling 120nm each way.

Tom, you certainly were flying some crazy holding patterns whilst waiting for the flyover!

It looks like I was not much more than a mile in trail once we got to flying the course.
