Event Hosting

I have just added 2 files to the downloads section;

Event Host Package - A word document covering most of the considerations for hosting a BAC event.

Event Manifest - A spreadsheet for reporting on an event.

Please read over them and comment as the spirit moves you.

Haven't reviewed them yet (will this evening) - I'll use your docs to submit an event for San MArcos, TX (KHYI) once I have a good date set up with the CAF wing here. Great burgers on the field or maybe BarBQue at the hangar. Also an A&P/IA here with a high-tech prop balancing rig. His rate is $275 for recip singles.

Would appreciate your help with making it a good event.

This is an excellent idea, Bo! Well done! Any member wondering about how to host an event should read this great step-by-step guide.

Fly-ins don't have to be big, complex, extravagant events but there are some basic steps that make it easier to get your arms around the process and Bo has captured them in his article.

Let's have a record year of hosted events and membership attendance!

Great job, Bo!!

All for one!

Well done Bo.

On a different note, here's a suggestion.

A year or so ago we had a tour of the American Legend Cub factory at Sulfur Springs, TX and then lunch across the street at something like the Red Barn.

The tour was interesting. We had fairly decent attendance given that the WX was pretty crappy.

Thank Jay for that one. Yes, it was well attended in spite of the weather (we drove instead of flying). This is one of those that point up how incomplete our records for events are. We only have you, Leslie and Dean on record as being there. From my memory there were 10+ souls on the tour.

Are you suggesting that we do it again?

Bo,

The records are of PT points not attendees. Under PT rules at that time no PT points for driving. The PT standings were never intended to be a record of attendees.

I know, Cloyd. But they are the only record we have.

Hey, one request. Please don't schedule an event during the Reno Air Races anywhere west of the Continental Divide.

Thanks,

Any one interested in Helping out at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, Udvar Hazey Center at Dulles Airport June 28, 2009? I guess we could make it an official event. A few BACers and 3000 interested others!
PM me. Paul W
