Big Sandy (KY) - 3/07/09

Flight Levels
Time to shake this lousy weather and head for lunch at Big Sandy Regional Airport (K22) in Prestonsburg, KY. Plan to arrive by noon and we'll take the very short walk to Cloud Nine Cafe adjacent to the FBO.

Save room for dessert......fried apple pie or clouds n sunshine. And if the temperatures cooperate, spend a little time in one of the rocking chairs before heading back home.

Looks like it might be a bit chilly on Sunday, but dry nonetheless. At least 4 of us will be coming from 27K, so hope to see others.

Big Sandy cancelled. Snow, ice and low ceilings will cause the cancellation. Will reschedule later this spring when winter is over!

That's too bad, Brad! It was snowing when I left Cincy this morning. Cold and low ceilings here in Salt Lake too! but, at least I'm home!!!

Good meeting in Cincy!

Brad,

Planning on arriving for lunch on Sat. Got to make several detours on the way so leaving today. Is there a PT points category for the number of airports your wheels touch on the way to an event?

Doug

I don't think so. If it was true, I'll have the trophy locked up by the time I get to Sun-n-Fun.

Marty,

Glad you are coming to Sun-n-Fun. I will be posting the volunteer schedule soon with plans for a BAC dinner and night airshow gathering. Stay tuned....

Doug

Sorry Doug, straight line miles this year, but it should put you atop the standings.....for now! Although the prog charts are indicating MVFR for tomorrow, the local weathermen are all saying sunny and mid-70's for tomorrow.....and they are never wrong! ;-)
For all those that make it, see you around noon.
Brad

Brad - Deb and I are looking forward to you buying lunch!! Also bringing grandson. Hope weather cooperates.

I was planning on flying down to K22 but the Wx might not coperate. I will check the wx tomorrow, right now it is calling for thunderstorms here in NW Indiana for Saturday and Sunday.

Will the Cote Curse arrive or will we have a break? The morning will tell. Lots of activity at KLUX this weekend with five BAC planes in the hangar or on the ramp.

Doug

Blue skies and warm temps so far this morning. Big Sandy is a GO! Winds will pick up and with some gusts, but straight down the runway. Hope to have a crowd.

Although the winds were gusty, the skies were blue and the 74 degree weather felt great. Dan & Ann Kirby, Gary, Debbie & Austin Boyce and Brad & Ann Mitchell enjoyed all the good food at Cloud Nine Cafe.
