BACFest 2014 Kudos

Monday afternoon I adjusted my flaps and ailerons per instructions from the maintenance clinic, then did a short test flight. It appears I picked up at least 4 knots in level cruise, maybe a bit more. The wind was a bit gusty, so it's hard to tell with only one flight. My turn cooridinator still indicates that I should be leaning on the right rudder pedal, but not as much as before. I think another tweak of the flaps will fix that. Thanks for the advise !!!! That was a great session.

In all of the above. Rick Koch was not mentioned. Rick has done the magazine and artwork for all of our events. When we needed a logo for the flag and t-shirt we handed out . He had it to me stat !We all missed you this year ! I have the shirts and coin on the way to you as promised. When you won the grand prize at Bacfest and didn't accept it because you already had the item that will always stand out as what the club is about. Once again thanks Rick ! I hope to see you in Dubuque if not sooner.

Thank, JP. I was very disappointed I couldn't make it. I missed seeing everyone, not to mention ending a perfect attendance streak. Sounds like it was another great event. I'm already looking forward to next year and flying back to Iowa. Thanks for stepping up Denis.

Almost forgot, Marty and The Donald

He seemed very short with Marty .All he wanted to engage in was small talk. Marty shouldn't have talked down to him.:) The picture is awesome James. Marty talked the Donald into buying the Type certificate and start production of our line to include some VAN-OVER speed mods. (fastest nose gear retract and extend while the mains stay down and locked.)Sorry to be a WISE @$$ but I had too much fun last week!!!

This was an awesome BACfest! It was a great venue. It was a wild, crazy, over the top fun weekend. It is hard to believe how much we did in just 3.5 days.

Thanks John P.! You are the member of the year!

And yes, Jon K., even though you got fired.

It was great seeing my BAC family and share these events.

A big thank you to Bob P. for driving, staying up late and getting up early!!!

So many people stepped up for this event; Tom C., Rap & Charlotte, Marty V., Brad, Joel K. and Jack. And all of the people at Pearson Field, Evergreen and the boat crew were wonderful.

Thanks to every one that came to their first BACfest, so we could meet you! Mike, Mark, Chris, Jack and many more. Please come next year.

Denis, I'm looking forward to it!

Just wanted to throw my two cents in.......What a GREAT time I had at BACfest! This was also my first, but definately not my last AND I will be flying Tex-MEX down next time (need some Sport representation on the ramp). BZ to the organizers and volunteers that went above and beyond to make sure everybody was looked after. You guys ROCK! It was also great to meet all my fellow BAC members, many of which I have talked with here in the forums, but never met. It was great to finally put faces to names and some of you are real characters....all in a good way! The program for this event was spectacular! From the museum tours to the maintenance sessions, to the airshow and the meeting, everything was top shelf and well prepared. I'm looking forward to Debuque next year and networking again with my BAC family. Until then, "Hold my beer and watch this!"

What a great time! This was my first BACFest but it won't be my last. It was an interesting flight back to Colorado. Michael and I made it to Eagle, CO late Sunday afternoon just ahead of front moving in from the west (see picture of Wall Cloud below). Unfortunately the West side of the front range had clouds stacked up against it that I could not out climb so I had to RON in Eagle Sunday and Monday before being able to make the final 110 miles to Colorado Springs. Michael and his wife graciously put me up for two nights. Thanks to all for a great time. I think we have Michael convinced to buy a Baby Beech.

This was definitely a good time! Unfortunately, I dumped my photos of BAC Fest! But, the memories will last. Met some new people and renewed some friendships. Thanks to J.P. and Jon for the detail work. A big thanks to Bill Sciscoe to help me getting my airplane flying again. I was fortunate to get Donald's ear, but he didn't say much I could understand. I did get the "yer fired" part. Looking forward to the next BAC Fest. Sounds like it will be a good one too.

Most of you who attended BACFest 2014 also visited the Evergreen Museum. This news may be of interest to you:

The Oregonian reports that Delford "Del" Smith, 84, diedsometime last week. Authorities were alerted to the death on Friday, which isnormal when someone dies outside a doctor's care, according to the paper.Investigators did not find any evidence that that his death was suspicious.
Evergreen Aviation has had its share of troubles in the recent past. Thecompany, which began under Smith as Evergreen Helicopters in 1960, grew into aworldwide freight and passenger airline, and included the Evergreen Air andSpace Museum. But the airline and several other of the subsidiary companiesfiled for bankruptcy in January, and the Evergreen campus in McMinnville is forsale.
