Steve is coming??? Nobody said, 'Steve was coming to BACfest 2013'!

There should be some disclaimer in the announcement fine print, 'Ya know, Steve might show up for this one?'

Given the sheer amount of rain we have been having here, I don't think there will be any I can drag to VA Beach.
The weather is killing airport business here. Heavy rain and lightning, cleared by strong gusting winds, replaced by 1000' ceilings.
Good grief! Must be global warming...we've got Virginia weather!!
 
Unfortunate timing will cause me and LeeAnne to miss this year. We will be out of the country, but we will be with you in spirit and heart! Have a wonderful time and takes lots of pictures.
 
For those planning to attend, please be sure to click the link in the news article and register online, even if you plan on mailing a check later. We need to have your and your guest's information in order to prepare name badges. Also, the boat trip on Thursday evening is limited to the first 70 people that register online.

Denis, Kathryn, Jim, and Val Weiser are registered. Flying the Super III and arriving on Wednesday. 851NM, so staying overnight at Windwood resort in West Virginia on Tuesday night. Any advice on the Windwood airport would be appreciated.
 
Dennis - Windwood is a very neat VFR only airport, with an east landing over trees and power lines. It has been several years since there but easy in and out, and Canaan Resort also there for a place to stay.

Great place to stay! Excellent food and service too. I've been there a few times with the Pilots of America folks, good times. I would advise landing on two-four. There are pretty tall trees and a displaced threshold if I remember correctly. If you land on runway six and need to go around you will have to out climb the trees in this nasty heat.

Great! I am looking forward to meeting so many members that I have not seen before. When it gets closer we will ask for arrival dates so we can plan prefest activities.
 
A little more than 7 weeks out and 29 are registered for BACFest. Just a reminder, the reduced group rate at the hotel expires August 22. If you haven't booked your room, don't miss out on the opportunity to save.
 
Rebecca and I are going to miss this year; we'll be in Buffalo for the Theodore Roosevelt Association annual meeting. We had a good time last year on the "Redneck Riveria" and enjoyed meeting many of you. It's a bummer to miss this year as I'm a native Virginian and was looking forward to a reason to visit "home". If anyone gets a chance, visit Naval Air Station Oceana or Naval Station Norfolk and give a wave for me. (I'd ask you to say howdy to my old ship, USS AMERICA, but she's an artificial reef now.)

I know you guys will have a GREAT time.
