Join the fun at Gaston's on the White River. The date is October 27; arrive early and hang out late. Officially the event is for Lunch on Saturday Oct 27.

Traditionally, we have had great weather on the first weekend in November. However, this year we have decided to move everything up one weekend.

Reply here and let us know if you are planning on coming. If there is interest in Friday dinner, we will make some arrangement for a car; however, it is usually not required. The crew at Gaston's is used to sending their van up to BPK the 'paved' airport about 4 miles away.

Scott B, saw where your fly in was ky-boshed by the weather. Your welcome to fly down to Gaston's. Would that be like, what, 15-20 hours?

Let us know if you can make it.

Jay, that's a beautiful time to fly in North Arkansas. I will put this on the "Definite Maybe" list. We'll see what our schedules look like in a three weeks.

Put me on the maybe list. I was planning on making it to Gastons around the 20th for a day trip. But the 27th might work out better.

I understand, Brad, fresh donuts are always hard to turn down.

Good to see some interest, thanks to everyone for putting there definite maybe's on here. I'll be watching the weather and hoping for a great fall weekend.

Would love to, but.....
We are supposed to be in NYC that weekend visiting friends. (I'd rather be at Gastons)

Steve,

If you fly Minnie to Gaston's, be careful when you take off. She may head to 1L0.

She's flown that route three times before.

I will make sure she heads back to Kset. You know i De-Panneled her after i got her home. I have been taking mud dobers nests out of her they are in every nook and crany. I removed at least 8 or 10 lbs of dried mud. There was one the size of my fist in the right aileron, The aileron was tail heavy when i took it loose. I am set to put the ailerons back on today after church. Then the rigging checks will start. Will need to get a new weight and balance check also. She may not be ready for Gastons next weekend but i am trying. Since looks slim that we both will be at Gastons on the 27th maybe we can meet at Lamberts in sikeston around her 50th birthday. That would be a nice day trip for both of us. Steve

I plan on attending. It is my understanding if I fly into KBPK I should contact Gaston's to come pick me up. Looking forward to the trip.

I will be there late Thursday afternoon. I have a full day fly fishing guide booked for Friday and room for one more person if you want to go and split the cost. Let me know by Wednesday afternoon so I can inform the guide.

AVIATOR_, you are correct. Gastons will send a van up to BPK to pick you up. Been doing it for years. However, Gaston's runway is a nice grass strip. Several BAC'ers made their first grass landing there. If you are on the fence about landing there, I predict that there are several here that would be happy to take the discussion that direction.

HOWEVER, there is weather forecast to be moving through Arkansas Friday and possibly Saturday. Remember, Gaston's is VFR and DAYTIME only. There are no approaches or lights. Landing are made heading WEST and take offs are made heading EAST.

Amen, I made my first, second, third, fourth and only grass landings and takeoffs at Gaston's.

A word to the wise, if you think you're going to have to do a go around make that decision early. I came in a little too hot one time and the go around was "interesting." There are ridges on either end of the runway but taking off to the east you can follow the river to gain altitude if you need to.

Also there are lights and an ILS at BPK, about five miles away, if you need them.

Nay, nay, Sir. Bradley.

There's video evidence of Minnie's first departure from Gaston's with an open door as she struggled to gain altitude with full tanks and followed the river down the valley.

By the second departure she had mastered the mouservator.

Hi JB,

Thanks for the invite - I just read this thread... I would love to try Gastons - in fact that's why I was purposefully avoiding this thread... It's one place I would really like to go... I've watched about 20 videos on YouTube of planes swooping around near the horse shoe shaped mountains and passing through the goal post trees on short final - all to spend a few days in quaint little cabins next to a beautiful river... Yeah - that's about all I need in life... Good food - an airport - cabins - and - near some water... I'd be very content there... Anyone have a Lear I can borrow to put me the the 250 mile range of Gastons ? Hope all you folks have a great time and a break in the weather...
:)

Regards,
Scott
