Join us for our annual picnic at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. The picnic will be held at Bob Schmidt's campsite in Paul's Woods. The picnic will start at 12:00PM CDT and ends when the last person leaves. We will supply brats and burgers with all the fixings, plus beer, soft drinks and water. If you have portable chairs, you may want to bring them.

Please respond to this thread if you plan on attending and how many will be in your group so we can plan our food and drink quantities.

Here is my phone number if you need to reach me. I will be posting a map of Bob's campsite once I arrive at Oshkosh. If you want me to text you a map just call me or text me. See you all on Thursday.

Cell: 317-626-2583

We will have the BAC canopy up again this year. Picture is from last year's BAC picnic 2016.

Wish I could make it but am arriving Friday, 28th. Would love to meet some of y’all if there are any get togethers planned over the weekend. - Adam

Karen and I are planning on attending but will be driving in with the motorhome. Camping somewhere in camp Scholler.

I am planning on getting there on Thursday, so will tie down the plane in Vintage and head on over.

I will be camping in Vintage and would love to have some folks over for the air show (afternoon or evening). I plan on arriving on Thursday as I will be covering the Blue Angles for the radio show on Friday. Give me a call or text at 616! 291-*1005.

Looking forward to it, please count me and son Greg in on the action.

Andy and I will be flying in Thursday morning. We hope to be there early enough to make the picnic. Last year we had weather problems and he had to fly us IFR close enough to get down through the clouds. That took up quite a bit of time and we made it just before the airshow started. We will try harder this year to get an earlier start.

Sons Andrew and David and me, makes three!

We'll be in Vintage Parking, staying all week; arriving Saturday, the 22nd.

Bob, glad to hear you will be attending. Wouldn't be a BAC picnic without you and your sons. Greg, looking forward to seeing you.

VAP, Vintage Aircraft Parking, is just west of 36L. It starts a little north off the ultralight/helicopter field; it goes as far north as the Vintage Hangar and Vintage Red Barn, near the tall red tower. For 1970-built and before. There is also VAC, Vintage Aircraft Camping, which usually ends up mixed in with VAP. They don't usually keep them separate.

I may decide to fly in Sun or Mon. Does either day have less arrival traffic? What times?

Hey Greg,

The hectic pace starts Saturday. We usually plan to arrive Saturday, just to allow for weather, and because parking is quicker and easier. Saturday may have three mass arrivals scattered through the afternoon, so we try to arrive by 11:00. About 120 Bonanzas/Barons leave Rockford, Ill and arrive for a mass arrival. ATC shuts down for that and gives the airport to the mass arrival. Every else has to hold for about 45 minues. The Cessnas and Moonies usually arrive Saturday.

Sunday may have a couple mass arrivals also. On Saturday or Sunday, be ready to hold in case ATIS is broadcasting that the field is closed for a mass arrival.

Monday is hectic just because it is day 1, and the airshow will close the field from about 1:30 till 5:30. Last year on Monday late morning, the ATIS announced parking was not available and recommended landing at Fond-du-Lac or Appletown. There was parking for some categories, maybe homebuilts, but general parking was full.

Bob
