I'm already working on a weekend pass so I can attend.

Problem is I can only get it for good behavior.

It's gonna be tough.

Gonna be tough for me to get a kitchen pass too. A special birthday is at the same time and I will have to have a real good excuse to miss it. I have some time to get creative, but it ain't going to be easy. Even if I get to avoid the birthday, I will probably have to pay a price when I return. But, it's always been like that around here. How many people dress up the house for Valentines Day? How about Columbus Day? You'd thunk that after all these years they would loose some luster, right? I forgot a birthday once and paid dearly for years. I had it tattoo'd in a special place so I would be reminded of it frequently.

Hi Chris.

Do we have a "Group Code" for rooms that are set aside for BAC members? Just looking at the hotel website and wondering. Thanks for the help!

Candy-
Actually Steve Cote is in charge of BACFest but to answer your question, I don't think we have been assigned a group code just yet.

Chris

Is that smart putting Cote in charge of BAC Fest.

There will probably be a hurricane rip through G'burg that weekend.

Actually we'll probably get the once in 100,000 year earthquake - we'll burn in the irony of the first perfect flying weather for a BACFest with a runway broken by the earthquake we can't land on ;-).

Hoardes of locusts are possilble too. We'll probably be able to make it this year but we'll have to fly commercial. SuperMouse is coming to San Diego in less than a month and I won't have enough vacation accrued by October to make it a fly-in for us.

I lived in Knoxville (30 min. N.E. from Sevierville) when I was a kid and I remember being awakened by a tremor rolling through about 3 a.m. This was in 73 or 74 I'm not exactly sure.

I was caving down near Athens, TN (one hour South of K-town)in 2002 and inside the cave was seismic equipment from U.T. It was powered up and had been there for awhile. Apparently they are monitoring East Tennessee for seismic events. The odds are heavily against any major seismic activity in the Sevierville/Gatlinburg area but, you never know. ;-) Fog would be my main concern.

Clouds of locusts would be scarier than most clouds of moisture...

But since moisture is more likley - anyone know the typical wx pattern (if there is one) for that Sevierville at that time of year? Fog in the morning 'til 10AM; Locusts from 2-4p....

Sure hoping to make it two in a row. And both a long way from home!

I understand that the locust forecast only comes after the frogs...or is that the other way around?? Never can remember.

Steve,

I will definitely attend but may end up driving (I Follow Roads). I have a medical issue to resolve by then, and currently can't fly PIC except in LSA's. (Too bad Beech isn't into making one yet.) I do fly my N21KM occasionally with my instructor or a friend as PIC. It's now in for its annual.

Anyway, I think this upcoming BACFEST should appear prominently on the web site home pa  ge. I couldn't even find the date in the excellent Summer BACTalk issue which just arrived.

What's with all the Latin which I once spoke in a Catholic seminary for the priesthood? Need to find out where you and Chris learned yours.

Et Tu, Brute?

I may have a lot more time on my hands by bacfest... but potentially MUCH tighter budget, so this is becoming tenuous for N98339.

I'm scheduled for KLUX before BACFEST, and won't miss that unless the bottom completely drops out (money already in the mouse-jar)... I may leave KLUX and fly over to Fort Payne,AL (Isbell Field - 4A9) and spend a few days with my dad then bring him with me to BACFest on a couple of day trips if the weather is good. It would be a real shame to be that close and not attend!

Steve - how do we pre-register? What's the cost for us (5yrs on 9/13) members? And if I bring my dear old dad as a guest?

Gotta check the room costs and the flight costs, it might be more economical to stay over than commute... plus then I could partake of an adult beverage or two with some old and new friends!

Hope to see you all there,

Mike

BACFest 2009 will be headquartered at:

They are not taking reservations on line so there is no "group code" per se. Just call the toll-free number listed above and tell them you are with the Beech Aero Club. That will get you the preferred rate. You can place your reservations now if you like.

No other details to offer right now. The BACFest committee is formulating the attendance fee for members and non-members plus the work on the agenda continues. The basics have been hammered out, more or less, but it is still a tad early to make any announcement.
