BAC Fest 2007

Dan is safe with the points. The first (long) leg involves Qantas and the rest is right hand seat with Dan while I verify HIS points adding up!!!

Don't mind me-I am just jealous :)

Got an offer to fill a seat in Minnie-soda, but I cannot get the time off... Have fun!

Looks like registrations for BAC Fest '07 have exceeded BAC Fest '06 and that is great! However, we're still somewhat short of 100 planes on the ramp. I know there are some that will be there and they won't be registering and others that haven't gotten around to registering yet so the actual number attending is still a bit fuzzy.

Anyway, take advantage of the early registration opportunity to get lower room rates and cheaper tickets! Now's the time!

See ya in Myrtle Beach!

Well, we've registered & booked our room. Will arrive on Tues Oct. 16 and we are renting a condo for the following week returning home on the 27th. See you in Myrtle Beach.

Don,

I think the BAC rates at the Caravelle are good for the week before and week after BAC Fest if you want to stay put. And I think the rooms have fridges. Not sure what all else they have.

Before we firm up reservations, we have some questions:

Apparently, everyone will not be staying at the Caravelle. Pros and cons?

Is transportation arranged for the events or will we NEED our own?

We plan to arrrive Wed aft 3-5 and attend the opening ceremonies. We intend to make the FFA excursion/pilgrimmage.

We will leave Sunday AM early enough to make the Sunday buffet/brunch at the Winton Inn in Barnwell, SC. See the comments in the journal: www.boomspeed.com/_bo_/jText/Chapter041.htm. Anyone else leaving Sunday want to join us?

I have a $70 / nite room with TWO beds if anyone is interested in sharing for WED, Thurs and Fri nights. Non-Smoking, non snoring.

We will have vans to shuttle members from airport to hotel, and for scheduled events. You would only NEED a car if there are sightseeing or dinner plans you wish to do on your own, outside of BAC events.

We're at the Caravelle - only contra-indication I know of is no pets. I think pretty much all the units have full kitchens or kitchenettes with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and in most cases ovens.

All registered and booked at the Caravelle. Taking bike in plane for leisure tours around area. Love the van idea. I was wondering how I was going to put everything on my shoulder and ride. :)

Take the back seat out and pack the bikes. See ya there.

BAC 007

We are booked at the Caravelle from the 16th to the 21st. Looking forward to meeting many new friends. The mileage should be interesting. We are flying north to Oregon on the way to drop off the dog before heading east to South Carolina.

Dan Jonas

I am booked. Fly the Sierra to Melbourne, Australia (100m) then Qantas to SFO (13,000m) then join Dan Jonas @ Napa CA, Duchess to Oregon then on to Myrtle Beach. Staying at the Caravelle.

Now, let me see, If I read the PT rules correctly, then as long as the Qantas pilot is NOT a BAC member, then the 13,000 miles belong to the member that IS on the plane. Thats right?? Yes????
Start shakin in yer boots Dan! (Just kidding!)

This is gonna be a blast!

All signed up

Well, I have paid my fees and made my reservations, so I guess there is no turning back now. For any who are interested, I got my room at the Caravelle, King Ocean View, for $65 a night on Expedia.

Cancel and reserve?

It disappoints me to hear that the deal on Expedia is so much better than what was given to us as a group rate. Perhaps a bunch of us should to the Expedia thing and then cancel our group reservations.

I'm out over $500 for five nights and it sould like it could be closer to $350.

What say you all? Sorry, feeling very fiesty today. Beside the JPI thing pissing me off, I just got finished having a heated discussion with an ATC supervisor about some (mis) handling.

Dan Jonas

Edit: Yup, I wentr to Expedia and looked. The ocean fronts are going for almost $30 less per night and I could get an Ocean Front Suite for $20 less per night. What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation policy

For me, it was an extra $14, to cover the entire period, so that I would have the right to cancel, if need be. With the insurance, it was something like two days notice or something like that.

We're coming.

Steve and Sharmalie Koski will be attending our 1st BAC meeting, coming out of Manassas VA and the big and beautiful ADIZ. Just passed my IFR check ride Sunday 9/16/07, that will help make the trip alot easier.

Look forward to meeting all and hanger talk galore
