BAC @ Arlington 2012

The weather forecast is for 75 degs + for every day. Low will be in the 50s. Looks like one of the better Arlington events as far as weather goes. The rain forecast is for Sunday night as the cards are laid out now. Looks like everyone that can fly in will be able to fly out. I'm just waiting for my plane to arrive at the gate here at Sky Harbor (KPHX). If I could have found someone to fly with and share expenses, I'd be airborne in the Sierra.

Looking forward to the Fly-in and seeing all the members that will attend. We are in booth #97 in the big tent, so make sure to drop by so I can include your name in the President Points list. We will have the coffee pot working every morning and enough space to socialize. If you can possibly make it, please do.

Thom, I will have plenty of pics to share this year.

Great Marty! I can't thank you enough for running the show again this year .... It sounds like the weather will be perfect! Even tho I am feeling OK right now, there are some issues that make it extremely unlikely I will get to share in the good times. I was really hoping to.

Anyway, I will be watching for some pics daily! If you post them here on the forum, it will keep it alive and then we will make sure to get them into the gallery of fly in pics. Hope all have a great time!

I just wanted to let everyone who sent me items for the show, they arrived and are loaded in the plane! I'll be leaving in a few minutes, looks like the weather will be fantastic, no rain forecast for the next week.

Thom..... sure wish you could make it, we'll miss you! Dawn says HI!!!

First day of Arlington is almost over. The booth is set up as is the coffee maker. This is a non-event day. Apparently, Arlington has been downsized. No air routines, forums, few displays, few vendors and very few airplanes. There are no events for Sunday either. Apparently it will only be a fly-out. But the weather is gorgeous! Some patching morning fog, but it was gone by mid morning. Hopefully the weather this week will attract more airplanes and people. Mark Hoskins made it all the way from Frontier Airpark with his good looking Super III. So, we have a Mouse on the ramp!

Was there no indication from the organizers that the event was going to be significantly different than in years past?

sounds like a bit of a let down.

Probably, I just didn't go to the website to see the program. Best that I didn't or I might not have come. Moot point anyway, I'm leaving on Saturday to help out a club member.

Marty .... I am confused. Is it still looking bad? The website for the Fly-in shows no change in the event schedule, with the airshow thurs - fri - & Sat. They do state "schedule subject to change". The 3 workshop tents and the 4 forum tents also seem to be scheduled to be pretty active. So I wonder what changed.
How about vendors? Attendees? Does it seem significantly smaller? I am really bummed. I hope the volunteers to man the booth are at least there to help you.

Really bummed - and sorry that I put you in that predicament. I hope it has changed since your first post.

Post a few pics so I can see whats happening!

Sorry my friend!

Thom,

There is just less participation this year by the performers and a few less vendors. There was a good crowd today as the weather is gorgeous. I expect tomorrow and Saturday to be much like last year. Just no Sunday activities. The field is filling up with airplanes and the Cherokee contingent is bigger than last year. We now have two Mouses on the field. Tomorrow will be the dinner.

Friday at Arlington. Un-forecasted thunderstorms most of the morning. Lingering rain/sprinkles and much cooler weather. I'm FREEZING in my Bermudas and Hawaiian shirt. Thankfully just a few hours 'till dinner time! Tomorrow is still a question as far as weather. The place is filling up as these PacNorWesters think this is great weather. Go figure!

Marty - How many BACers showed up? Hope the dinner goes ok, and I don't know if you have a BAC check in hand to cover it or not.... but make sure you keep the receipt if not! (I forgot one year). I will make sure you get re-imbursed quickly if you let me know asap.

Glad it got a little better for you.
Still could use more pics!! (I must be feeling lonely)

We had just a few of the "old guard" and one new member make it so far. Jack and Robin Becker, Mark and Dawn Hoskins and one of our newest members, Clif Pierschbacher. But today the weather wasn't so good with thunder bumpers over the airport for most of the day with rain, sprinkles off and on all day. Dinner was for 6, but it was a good time. I think I kept that receipt. Should be somewhere....... I'll look in the morning.

I posted more pic's on the Northwest Fly-in Gallery. I have more in the camera and will add them later. Unfortunately I'll have to leave tomorrow (bet the weather improves right after my departure). But, it still was a good time and many interesting airplanes to ogle. The event turned out better than I thought it would from Wednesday's showing. Mark and Clif will be manning the booth tomorrow. I hope others show up.

I have just uploaded a few pictures from "Gloomy Friday" (I guess being Friday the 13th it could have been worse). Hopefully more will show up from those that were there and got pictures.

Saturday started out with lightning and thunder, then some mist then cleared out for the 2 pm airshow. A Sierra and a Musketeer showed up (photos in Northwest Fly In gallery, Arlington 2012). I stopped by and talked to Big Bend College, they brought a Piper Seminole from Moses Lake, WA. They have nine Sports and six Sundowners they use in their pilot training program http://www.bigbendaviation.com/. They also have two fairly new Piper Warrior III's. The gentleman indicated a preference for the Beech planes. Next year I hope they bring a Beech product.
The Sunday morning fly out started out with wind and drizzle, eventually lifted to broken. It has been an extremely cool spring and early summer.
