Any Blues Fans in SE or SC Regions?

Did anybody see the article about The Blues Skyway in the April issue of AOPA Pilot magazine? It featured six blues joints from New Orleans to Chicago.

One of them was Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, MS. That's about 250 PT points due north of 1L0.

Thought it might be fun to have a fly-in there over the summer. Looks like a couple good places to eat around there and you can even rent an "apartment" over Ground Zero (think it was about $80 for two or $105 for a four sleeper).

Anybody interested?

If I remember correctly, Clarksdale a/p is out of town a little ways and not a lot of activity. Meaning probably no crew car, probably no rental cars on field, can't remember about fuel availability. I believe my Sierra had been tied down and annualed at Clarksdale before I found her. Sounds like a fun trip, we just need Jay to realize the logistics and need for prior, proper planning. Maybe the Ground Zero Club would be happy to run shuttle service?

I flew into Clarksdale in 2004 and flew 274AM back to Baton Rouge. Nothing there but one maintenance hangar. If I remember correctly, the single airstrip is West of Clarksdale.
 
Picky, picky, picky.

AirNav shows it to be about 7 miles NE of Clarksdale.

But there is a railroad track a little west of the airport.

I could try to find out the freight schedule and we could hop a freight into town. I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THAT.

Says they have self sevice 100LL and rest rooms. What more do you want.
 
Now there's a real excuse to buy one of those halloween costumes and dress up like a hobo. Hopping the freight car and riding in, can't get much more blues than that...
 
OK everyone.. let's do this the right way. Let's go to Memphis for some good blues music, great ribs & BBQ, and great entertainment on Beale St. That is even more PT points Cloyd. :)
