Airport Steak House - Mattoon, IL (KMTO) - Saturday - June 24, 2017

First cross-country in the Sierra was to KMTO with my CFI (insurance checkout) to get some pie. I've since returned a couple of times with my wife, and it's pretty great. Provided weather is within my abilities, I will PROBABLY show up (alone - wife is busy).

I will probably be there along with Jane. We will have to drive because my son is using the Sierra for a while. He lives near Indianapolis so maybe he will show up.

Wish I could join in - I am stuck here in TX this coming weekend entertaining in-laws. Really wish I could've come out... hopefully next time.

Curt - hope your kid knows how lucky he is to "have" a Sierra for a while. I got to have that privilege for a while when I was in college; what a great toy, method of transportation, freedom, and responsibility to have. I didn't know then all of the background work that goes into ownership and maintenance. What a great dad he has.

I'm sitting pretty solid at about 87.3% chance I'll show up. Who all we got as of today? Weather LOOKS like it'll be pretty good as of today.

I intend to be there. I am still a student pilot, so my weather/wind envelope is a little smaller.

Be good to meet some of the members here.

Glad I got to meet some of you today. Sorry I was late. Glad I could get past the fouling issue and fly today, though. I had a beautiful flight home. Climbed above the clouds.

Coles County was a busy airport on Saturday. Glider activity, a Motorcycle Rider Program using a portion of the ramp, and a BAC Fly-in. We had a great turn out. Eight attendees despite a couple of members unable to make it. We had four member aircraft on the field. Musketeers dominated this day with three on the field and one Sierra. Curt and Jane Lindauer drove in from Springfield, IL. Steve Powers wasn't going to miss out on the fly-in either and drove in from St. Louis, MO. Discussions ranged from ballast weight and kitty litter to get more speed. To ADB-S solutions for the upcoming mandate. Gordon Lustfeldt shared with us his recent trip to Alabama and his visit with Rap. Showing us his new shoulder harnesses and donuts. This is why I enjoy these fly-ins. Meet friends, make new friends, and share information.
