Stearman is a really cool place to see. They'll have showers and provisions set up for camping. There's a great restaurant on the field. (https://www.stearmanbarandgrill.com/)


I'm unfortunately busy on Saturday but considering popping in Friday or Sunday. If I can make it and any other BACers are there, I'd sure like to meet.

A few years ago I held a fly-in to Stearman Field and found it to be a really friendly airport to general aviation. The restaurant/bar is great. I won't be able to make it that weekend, but hope that we can find some excuse to have one there again. We had a member who was based there who had a Sierra with a nearly identical paint job to my Sierra. Don Olson was his name. I don't know if he is still an active pilot or BAC member, but he would be a good one to contact if you are going there.
 
We had a fly in breakfast there last year on the way to Bacfest . Great place. If you can make out a window of time you can be there. Make it a club fly in. Get some Presidents points , meet some members, take some pics and let the club buy lunch.

Now a BAC Event

I put this on the Calendar as a BAC event. I am 50/50 on whether I can make it for this, which is to say reservations made and watching the weather. Anyone have tips on hotels? I just picked at random so it will be a haul from town in a rental. Fingers crossed on this one.

If you could get in to Beaumont Hotel at O7S, it'd be really cool. It's just a 30 mile flight from Stearman. I'd imagine they are booked up by now though.
The northeast side of Wichita is nice. You won't go wrong anywhere from Rock Road east and north of Highway 400/Kellogg.
 
I’m hoping to have Sundowner 6004W there Friday or Saturday. Not planning to camp since it’s just an hour flight home. Just keeping an eye on the weather. Looking clear as of now!
 
Also, if you’re looking for hotels, KAAO is about a 2 minute flight west with a couple hotels at the end of the runway. I’m guessing they’d gladly give you a ride over.
 
Briefly represented the mouse line today. There was a Sierra parked there from Dallas, too. Smash turn out, but a good outing none the less.

Glad to hear the report.

I was disappointed to miss out. The heat sealed my decision to not go. I hope they are able to keep it going but move it to a cooler part of the season.

The best one is just a few miles east at Beaumont Hotel! Land on the grass strip and taxi down mainstreet to the hotel!
