Abel Island Video

Thanks guys - I now have it downloaded to my computer so I can show people :-)

BTW the Abel Island run was a career highlight for me. To have all those aircraft leave on a schedule, arrive on a schedule, and park on a schedule was amazing! ( and I used to work for the airlines)

I was just glad that I didn't screw up and break the chain - a proud moment indeed :-)
 
Hi Folks,

Just curious - did you guys stagger the launch times for a sequenced arrival - I know we had a bit of a fur-ball at First Flight when we met in Norfolk ?

We were all given a time slot and the fastest airplanes went first to the slowest. We had two check points one like half way and another closer to the runway on short final. When one pilot made a radio call on final the following Mouse should have been at the first check point. If you were at the check point before hearing the plane in front of you on final you needed to slow down. If the checkpoint wasn't in site then you were supposed to try and speed up. It was very organized on the way out. On the way back is was chaos. The tower struggled big time.

How did you download it?
 
One of the best organized events I have ever flown in - - - well done! Even the weather turned out great. Video is icing on the cake.

Here is a sample (mine) of the flight sequencing we used ...... and worked like a charm. The timing was perfect with enough margin for a comfortable cushion between flights.

Yes .... the return trip was a little different. I made it through the "fence" just before the tower closed the gate. "Over whelmed" doesn't quite describe the results, :eek: but we all took it in stride and many helped as we needed to get the fleet back.

I don't feel I have time or the desire to figure out how to download and burn my own CD. I ordered mine directly from the videographer and was glad to pay the $25. I have all of the extra video on it as well. Not sure if that is on the web site yet.
 
and again: it was SUPER well organised - Kyle described it perfectly.

On the departure I decided to go search for the "field of Dreams" - and circled it several times! I heard the cluster going on at DBQ and decided a few extra minutes of siteseeing was a good thing ;-)

What extras are on the $25 DVD? Anyone know if they are still available?
 
Most of the extras are of the landings all over again. The difference is that there is no music and the audio has more of the engine sounds. There are more scenes of people on the ground. There are two camera views instead of the one on the main video. The label on mine has a picture of the airplanes parked on the ground with the label "BACFest 2015. These differences may not be all that important for some, but I think they are nice and would do it again since this is a keep sake.
