2011 Bahamas Update

Headed to Andromeda
Just finishing up a 4 Island Bahamas round robin for 10 days. There is now Avgas at Governors Harbor airport in mid Eleuthera. Cheaper than Florida! And for now the Bahamas Tourism Authority will pay $300 toward your hotel bill when you show your immigration paperwork.

Hi Paul,

Changes in latitudes - changes in attitudes.... Glad you had a good trip - please feel free to post a pictorial PIREP – LOL – as I have to live vicariously through others that have done it… I never get tired of seeing shots of the Bahamas… I’ve got the bug bad – just not the time to do it… That – and – I still don’t have my Instrument Rating – which makes it extremely difficult to plan a trip on a schedule…

Regards,
Scott

Scott, this trip could easily have been done VFR. I have found of course the USA portion the most challenging for weather. So whatever time flexibilty you usually build in should work. Also there are so many flights to and from southern FL that if worst comes to worst I plan on commercial flights as a last ditch plan.
I do have lots of good photos from this trip. But I'll have to see if I could figure out how to post a photo pirep.

Hi Paul,

Yeah - I've watched the weather many times on fictional planned trips to the Bahamas... I have all the routes/stops planned and everything - it just seems weather will always be a factor when traveling from New York as there usually is some blob of weather in the way... I understand - even with an IR I may get stuck - it's just the odds are slightly better of getting out and back - on time... I REALLY want to go !!!
;)

I've found the easiest way to put photos on display is via a third party site such as "Photobucket"... It will even allow you to create a slide show and it's free... If interested and you want some help - just holl'r - I'll gladly assist...

Regards,
Scott

Alan & Scott,

Paul and I are working on a trip around Sun n Fun possibly. Keep it open.

Alan/Ed,

I'd love to be able to swing it - I'll see how it goes... This here's the rubber duck and we're about to put the hammer down...
:)

Regards,
Scott

Mary and I would love to make this trip too. I just told her what I was reading and her response was..."we're there", who am I to argue.

Count us in for BAC to the Bahamas!

How about the weekend before Sun n Fun? March 26 is a Saturday. We could meet at Florida somewhere for lunch then fly over to the islands somewhere. We could pick anything from fancy to quite rural. This way we could still get to Sun n Fun on Wed or Thursday and decide to stay the weekend or escape before the crowd.
