We do not have a Musketeer in the AIR RACE CLASSIC (June 22nd to 25th 2015)

JOHNNYXRAY

Orbiting Earth
Fellow BAC member Sue Jones is entered in the Air Race Classic this year . She has five years experience. Gene Nora Jessen spoke of this race @ BAC fest Portland and it really peeked my interest to promote . For many years Gene Nora has entered this race with her Musketeer . The idea of one of our type aircraft up against Grumman , Cirrus, Bonanza, Cessna, Diamond and Piper sounds like fun. The race starts in Stafford Va and ends in Fairhope Al . The Mid Atlantic Region is discussing a fly-in send off to start the race. . Here is a link http://airraceclassic.org/

News Flash!!! Sue will be flying her Sundowner in the Air Race Classic . Her team name is "Forever 21" and she will have a couple big shiny BEECH AERO CLUB logo's on her plane ( because she is a proud member). Several members have expressed interest in helping her with fuel costs. It is a 2500 mile race and she has to get to Va from Texas to the start point. She has expressed gratitude but would rather have us donate something to the race itself in the form of a program ad . If any of you are interested in still contributing ,I propose you can email me [email protected] 1. State how much 2. I can email you a pay pal invoice for that amount . 3. We can keep the contribution amounts anonymous so no one feels pressured . 4. I can post the totals so the club can see how much is being raised . 5. At the start of the race ,We can present her with a gift card from the amount raised. ( checks can be sent also for those that choose not to use pay pal ) More race info to follow. Thanks Everyone.

$400.00 Pledged so far http://trackleaders.com/arc15

JP if you can fake being a reporter you can enter this race. Who you get as your co-pilot is another issue.

John,
Passed your post on to a gal here at 7B2. She is currently a Rec Pilot but finishing what she needs for Private. Good pilot, nice lady (cant help but laugh when she's around).
She'll probably not contact Sue but will track the race.

Man, would I like to have an "entry level female co-pilot"! Would be great if she could fly too.

Hats off to John (and Sue) for being brave enough to start this thread! Excellent, my friends

Hopefully a co-pilot will emerge, along with all of the tom-foolery that we love and know (and expect!) here at BAC.

I will do my (little) part - - - - if Sue's Musketeer/baby Beech participates in the race, I will sponsor her for 10 gallons of avgas. Just give me a call or email at the end of it all and I will put a check in the mail. Simple. And (of course) we'll hope for a few photos here at the end of June, and also some good stories at BACfest. Sweet.

Keep the faith, my flying friends,

Nelson Thank You. I have brought up the idea of doing some kind of sponsorship by the club towards a Baby Beech being entered in the Race. Just because we never supported the race before doesn't mean we shouldn't , It has had a mixed response by the board. I will match you for ten gallons myself if Sue or another Mouse enters this year. That makes for 20 gallons and the women knowing they are flying the right plane with fellow Musketeer drivers cheering them on. Alan plans on doing a story on former races by Gene Nora along with us hopefully having a launch fly-in event and Finish line Fly in . Nice thing for us to rally around in my opinion. Gene Nora and Sue have been doing this for quite sometime. It would be nice to see what a little support even if its moral from Beech Aero can do. If we gauge ourselves by other type clubs ,we don't get involved. But other type clubs don't get a 125 foot yacht and go up and down the Columbia river , Fly into a resort and play golf ,watch Caddy Shack with one of the actors, Fly over a town parade and get treated to lunch and 20 gallons of 100L, land 24 planes at kitty Hawk and pick up a new member in flight, Organize the first teleconference TYPE clubs FAA wings credit, Make our convention all inclusive so you dial our toll free number and a volunteer member picks you up @ the airport . The only regrets I have is we can't give you more . Trust me the board is working on that !!!

Ps the TOM-(Michael -Bob-Cloyd -Marty)FOOLERY doesn't go un noticed :) Steve thanks. Lets find a another co-pilot for Sue. FYI if I was a female I wouldn't do on the weight and balance :(

An instructor friend of mine, Danny Hendricks in Cassville, MO, has reached out to a female pilot he knows to see if there is interest in joining Sue for this race. Danny owns a "mouse" and uses that aircraft for training and education. Hopefully he will be successful in recruiting a copilot.

Here is a link to one of his former students who recently earned her private ticket...

I will ask my youngest daughter. She is in town attending the Women of Aviation conference, now. Normally, she is based out of New Jersey with the U.S. Coast Guard.

I'm good for 10 gallons of gas, also.
