BACFest 2015 Venue Search

Food for thought on timing...late September is prime time for fall leave colors in the Dubuque area. The Mississippi is always a grand site, but the changing leaves can really highlight its beauty.

Has anyone considered Branson, MO? (KBBG,KPLK,KFWB) Should be lodging and fun. Also, serviced by several airlines. Do we have any members in that area that could host an event or give insight?

Branson has been talked about. We have a new member in that area. As much as I like going to Branson, I believe most people go there to see shows. I am not sure how we could plug that venue into a BACFest where we want to have a limited number of things to go and see, but, more than that. want to have our members interacting with each other. I would like yours and others thoughts about how a Branson venue could be done. We could to a test since our member near there has offered to do a fly-in. A weekend, overnight fly-in might be a good test. Thoughts everyone???

even if it is in Sept, I would try to make it to branson. I would recommend staying at Big Cedar Lodge. It is amazing, we go there every year for vacation. In fact we will be there July 12- July 22 of next year. I already have 11 rooms reserved for vacation.

Eric,
I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but surely it makes more sense to book one room, eleven times more often??

There are 24 in my family that travel, and now my mom has a boyfriend since my dad was killed and his family is going to come out also. I think this is where they are going to get married. And yes I am happy for my mom, she is to young to be lonely. so there is a total of almost 50 people going.

for our family july vacation take priority over anything else.

Got it! I was wondering if you were one of these rock stars I read about that love to trash rooms and move to another as the night's party progresses!

Branson Fly In? Charlotte and I are IN..... Been there, done that, would do it again!!!

Singletons??????????????

Rap

News Flash !!!! BACFEST 2014 is less than a month away. I plan on going to next years also. If you haven't looked into Portland I would highly recommend it .

How wide is the Mississippi at Dubuque?

The Mississippi is about a 1/4 mile wide at downtown Dubuque. On the north side of town there is a lock and dam that widens the river to 3/4 of a mile. Between Dubuque and Lacrosse, WI the river has high banks with several snow skiing slopes. When fall colors come it makes a great boat, or airplane ride.

A fall date for BAC Fest has economic advantages and less competition for facilities than a mid- summer date. A mid-summer date would cost more and be more difficult to schedule. There won't be many late motel openings in July.

I didn't know there were any dams on the Mississippi.
A quarter mile wide, huh? So I could MAYBE swim across it at Dubuque and come back to Nawlins and brag about swimming across the Mississippi and just not tell the whole story.
Are there undercurrents like down here to drag you under? Maybe I should wear floaties.
