12# supplemental weight that bolts on to your 10# ABW
$300.00

Details

This listing is for a 12# supplemental weight that will bolt on to your existing 10# ABW. This will work with the original Beech P/N 169-440005-207 and most of the OPP variations of the original 10# ABW.

Musketeers, Sundowners, and Sierras and some other aircraft as well may have an existing 10# ABW, if you have one and your EWCG is still too far forward this additional weight added to your 10# ABW will provide roughly the equivalent of placing and additional 50 pounds of ballast in the cargo area, since this is installed all the way back at F.S. 288".

The supplemental weight is pre-drilled and is attached with (2) AN4-50A bolts, (4) AN970-4 washers, (2) AN960 washers, and (2) AN363-428 stop nuts and all of the hardware is included.

The two weights should be aligned as shown above, the inside surface of the supplemental weight is offset about 1/4" to provide adequate clearance needed from the stab counterweight arm. Removal of the existing 10# ABW is recommended to drill the two holes accurately and it should be drilled on a drill press.

After the two holes are drilled into the 10# ABW unit it should be reinstalled with the appropriate hardware which is normally installed to look like this forward view of the bolts. The holes can be aligned by using a 1/4" steel rod which has been sharpened to a point to mark the center of the hole, or the two weights can be placed together as shown on a drill press with an extra long 1/4" drill bit ( roughly 4 1/2" combined depth). Check that the two AN4 50A bolts fit properly and do not bind before installing.

The AN4-50A bolts are installed in the opposite direction of the AN4-13A bolts which were used on the 10# ABW; this is required to prevent contact between the bolts and the stab on the aft side of the 10# ABW.

Note: If you want to purchase the supplemental weight without the pre-drilled holes just mention that when you place the order.
