Wings of Carolina Fly in on April 13 - KTTA, Sanford, NC

Can't make it to Sun n Fun but still want a fly-in experience in April? We are having a BAC Fly-in on the 4/13 at TTA in Sanford, NC to attend the Wings of Carolina Flying Club's Second Saturday Cookout. The WoC is a 350 member club of active pilots co-owning 13 aircraft (thought no Beech, yet ). The club is very active, social, and welcoming to new members or visitors.

Good food (typically standard cookout fare) starts being served around 12:00 for a flat $5.00. I've always found the food really good, which I cant say for too many flat fee $5.00 meals. If you don't like hangar flying or talking at length about AC and flying, you may want to skip this one.

The club asks only that we park on the grass or the main ramp (not far) and walk to the club as the club's ramp is very busy and has a lot of pedestrian traffic on cookout days.

As soon as we have a good idea of how many people are likely to attend I'll let the club know. TTA has historically been known as a good cheap fuel stop, though i'll still see if we can get a BAC discount once we have a headcount estimate.

Thanks,

Bill - N6699S

Sounds great Bill, I will bring the Beech Nut shirts for all fly-in members . If you know you are coming get me a shirt size and color (Black or White). This sounds like a great time. I haven't flown into North Carolina in a while. Alan if you are in annual I can pick you up on the way. JP

Ok, based on the thread so far it looks like 4 "definite to probable" and two "maybe" responses. I'll check on a fuel discount Monday and post an update.

Bill-
Take pictures, please. Out west we can't seem to get a break! Either lousy weather or no interest! Have fun!

I will definitely be taking pictures & sharing afterwards. As to a fuel discount, I hope to find out tomorrow as my main contact has been out sick yesterday and today.

Right now I'm estimating 4-7 but really hoping for more. TTA is a great airport with cheap fuel and outstanding staff (if you check airnav.com , you will see that there are no ratings less then 5 stars). Also, the club we're visiting is one of the most open, engaging pilot communities in the region. If you're on the fence for this one I'd really encourage you to make the hop and show up.

Thanks,

Bill

My plane's on the fence (or rather, in the shop) but if it's not ready, I've been promised another belly scrubbing flight by John!

Ask him to land on rwy 21. The trees are getting a little more overgrown on that side and could use some trimming...

A couple of quick updates:

* We have a confirmed discount of 20 cents per gallon on the 13th. Be sure to ask the line guys for the BAC discount
* The club (where the cookout is) is located adjacent to the south ramp. If you don't want to walk all the way from the main (north) ramp it is ok to park on the grass near the the south ramp.
* I know a weather forecast more than 4 hours out is worthless BUT, The talking head on the local TV station just assured everyone that the weekend weather will be "spectacular" and "gorgeous."

I don't have a Beechnut shirt yet. I will be wearing shorts or jeans and a light blue "Invention of Flight" T-shirt with drawings of the Wright Flyer on it unless I get a Beechnut shirt and change. Otherwise just look for the goofy looking guy hanging around N6699S or hangar B-13

My plane is all well again! Looks like I'll be able to skip the tree trimming and get to fly myself down!

I am game for tomorrows Honey-Don't tree trimming. What size shirts are needed ? I really was looking forward to the carrier landing at your place Alan. Anybody leaving Manassas, Warrenton or from north. JP
