Where are you stopping on your way to BACFest?

Plane is all fueled up and ready to go, just not sure if i am going straight there or taking the scenic route.

Plan on wheels up on 30 Sep at 0800 CST from Baker, FL (18FD), gas at Union City, TN (KUCY) around 1030/1100, and touchdown KDBQ around 1500/1530-ish. Looking forward to it. I have two OEM fiberglass glare shields to give away if I can find room to haul them in my jet. One is from my plane ('76 B24R Sierra) and the other Chad Moser gave to me. I wound up buying a new one from Plane Plastics. They both look a little rough but perhaps someone with some 'glass' repair skills could use them. Any takers?

The weather is really changing here on the Maryland coast. Tropical Storm Joaquin is moving up the Atlantic and the preceding rain and low IFR conditions are going to be here Thursday. So, Mary and I will bug out some time tomorrow, looks like 11am to let the low IFR lift (ceilings 200-700), and then eventually overnight in beautiful downtown Valparaiso, IN. KOXB-KCDI-KVPZ. We'll make the 184 mile hop to KDBQ Thursday morning.

Everyone FLY SAFE, be smart, have an out!

I'll probably fly non-stop from KAAO. The forecasted winds are on the spinner @ 16kts + makes for 3+30 enroute time.

I am at St. Louis downtown airport at Ideal Aviation. (KCPS) I recommend them to anyone traveling near here. Kimberly and Matt are great. We called about 30 minutes out and rental car was ready (very reasonable price), maps to our motel, and tour books for local attractions. We had an appointment and they both expedited the process to get us on our way into town. Free overnight with fuel top off. They have a competitive price on fuel. It has been an exceptional experience for us. They treat general aviation the same as the corporate/charter clients. I think you will be pleased.

I had 6 plus hours of IFR on Sunday, ended up at KASN, instead of Rap's for fuel stop. We overnighted at Sikeston, MO. (KSIK). Think Lambert's Restaurant

Monday VFR to KCPS downtown St. Louis. Great stop. Staying two nights here and on to KDBQ Wednesday.
Have a safe trip.

John,
Thanks. Jane is going for seafood tonight. I would have liked to have seen a ballgame, but they are in Pitts.

We we want to get there to reserve a place in the bar. LOL

you and Paul have a safe flight. Of coarse you know what you are doing to your self, flying out and back in a Sierra. When you get in the Sundowner again, you will be dreaming about spending more money soon.

Except that my old worn out poorly rigged sagging wheels chipped paint etc Sierra probably won't impress Mr. X Ray vision.

Are you kidding Paul ? I am impressed . This is going to be a fun weekend. After flying with me for 6 hours .When Marty Vanover talks speed mods it will be like the old EF Hutton commercial with you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MXqb1a3Apg You will be thinking of faster ways to get back so you can drop me off. Rap has the best speed mod. He purchased a Grumman. :)

Dave , Someone needs to pinch me from the spending money dream. :)

John,
you just gave him an idea for more speed, leave without you. Then you could ride back with TC. Don't do that to him Paul. Just keep reminding him of more speed.

If you are going to race Rap, hold out for a large head start. He and I and it was above 1000 fpm climb.

Just do what I do and lie to yourself. I like going slow so I can see more.

Weather has not allowed me to depart as previously planned. It's rained 5 days straight here! I will no longer be stopping at 3LF.

3LF is not far from KSET. I may be able to stop by on my way. I am reserving the right to leave wed evening. Forcast for oct 1st still says perfect. 3LF generally has good fuel prices.

Paul,

Rap can paint, but you much pay twice your highest estimate and sign a waiver that you will not sue him.
I can paint, as long as you would be happy with a rattle can job. Anymore than that, then you need a PRO.

It is supposed to be in the 60's Thursday morning and breezy. I am leaning toward just putting along low level up the Mississippi most of the way up to Iowa. Hopefully i will not go past DBQ while sipping my coffee and coasting along.

Keep up the reports, I love it. Sadly, I blew all my vacay time going trans-con in my Sundowner over the summer. Will someone please Periscope the DBQ arrivals?

Hey Paul, you ain't seen nothin. Wait till MEX hits the ramp. A rattle can job would look like Imron on this plane!

Sitting and waiting for a break in the wx. Ceiling 300' here at KOXB :(

We may have better numbers around 11:30, if the potential for boomers hold off. For now, we wait. :(
