Sporty's Pilot Shop - Batavia, OH (I69) - Saturday - December 6, 2025

It will soon be December, and it is time for our annual fly-in at Sporty’s! Sporty’s serves up free hot dogs, brats, and metts every Saturday from noon to 2:00pm EST. Join us on Saturday December 6th to browse the store and pick up those last minute “must haves”. If you haven’t received a catalog lately, check out the website. This a good opportunity to see those items you may have been interested in firsthand. The Tri-State Warbird Museum is also located on the field. The museum is located...

Arrived a few minutes ago. Picked up my repaired Sporty’s handheld radio. Didn’t send out my usual post asking who plans to attend last night or this morning. Got up at 1:45am this morning to make a repair at work. Playing catch up all morning.

It’s parked over at the warbird museum. I arrived a few minutes after 11:00am. Santa was already inside.

On Saturday the weather wasn't the best. That didn't keep Santa Claus away from visiting all the good little boys and girls awaiting on his arrival at the Tri-State Warbird Museum. Santa arrived in a T-6 just like last year.

We had three attendees. Joe and Chris Kirby along with John Redmon. First time since we have had our December fly-in at Sporty's. They did not have their Saturday cookout. They have a roller grill on the second floor for when the weather is not the best for outdoor grilling. Disappointing. I settled for some chips from the vending machine. While Joe and Chris went to Skyline Chili. Weather was improving when I left at 1:45pm. Sun was poking out between the clouds. Before Joe and Chris left to go eat. Joe and I had a conversation on his avionics upgrade that he did on his Sierra. Adding two Garmin G5's and the GFC 500. He went to Cincinnati Avionics located on the west side of the field at Clermount County (I69). He had two estimates. Cincinnati Avionics was lowest of the two estimates. He was well pleased with their work.

We will be taking a break for the winter. Next fly-in for the East Central Region will be in late May of 2026.
