South Central Fly-In Spring 2011

Climbing to Cruise
Guys,

I don't mean to step in on Bo's last week as our director, but I have been asked by my airport manager and local EAA rep/AOPA director to get my date for a fly in to them ASAP, as they are holding two months open for us. I was wanting to do an intro fly-in/crawfish boil with possible golf outing at my local airport kdri Deridder, LA to introduce my wife, plane, and myself to everybody as the incoming director. Of course it's open to all that can attend from anywhere. We can get started on details later, but for now I need input from everybody on where in March or April would work best for everybody. Can't please all, but would like to please the majority. Thanks for your input!

Last time I had mudbugs it was 1964 and I was sick for two days. Probably nothing to do with the "dads" themselves, just proved a teenager can't eat a number 3 washtub full of crayfish. I got some help from my brother and second cousin (once removed), but together we couldn't quite pull it off. Dunno about the other two, but I couldn't think of "dads" for years with out getting woosie.

It could be I have recovered from my self-induce revulsion to those diminutive and delicate freshwater relatives to the lobster, so I am tentatively making room on my calendar for this event.... especially if Bill makes it.

Mardi Gras is March 8 so make it after that.

Easter is April 24 so don't make it that weekend.

Lent is in between. That's a good time to eat crawfish.

And Marty you suck the heads and pinch the tails. Maybe you did it the other way around. Or drank Merlot with them.

Ah forgot about Bill's hangar what's the timeline on that Bill? Sounds like between mardi gras and Easter would work well. If you fall there I can adjust.

Larkin,
Don't worry about me. Go for It. We were thinking about flying to Leesburg ASAP to meet you and bring you the SC Banner anyway.
March/April is fine with us, we will adjust as needed.

Bo,

Anytime after the 14th is good with us. Helping a family member move every weekend between now and then. Been waiting on a good IFR day to shoot approaches around here for a month, and figures it'd come during the week I'm waiting for a new fuel pump to come in. We'll have a bedroom open for you and Sandra if you plan to spend a night or two.
