Reno Air Races Fly-in

Headed to Andromeda
I forgot to post this last week. We had a Fly-in at Reno in 2011 and 2012. So, I'm now posting the 2013 Reno Air Race Fly-in for Saturday and Sunday, 14-15 September. Those that can make it will probably have to land at KRNO as Stead Field will be a little busy. Call me if you need transportation from Reno International and I'll get you to the Air Races. While the races are going on all week, the real race days are Saturday and the Sunday finals. The forecast is for sunshine and 80+ deg temps. Should be a great time. This is the 50th anniversary of RENO! It could be the last.

Marty,
i will see you there. We arrive Tuesday evening. I do not need transportation. What day will you be in town?
Thanks,
Dave

Rick has it right. But a 50 year run ain't bad! The owner of the box I attend has been at Reno every year since the first race in 1964. Even he say's he's getting tired. I've been there since 2006 and have loved almost every minute. 2011 was a sad event. Our box was lucky. Others not so.

Anyone have pit passes? My son and his friend are going. I would like to get them passes. Thanks Bob

The races are over and the only members that made it was me and Dave Singleton. Good week for Air Racing! Three "May-days" and no injuries or damage to airplanes. Some engines didn't fare so well. But, that's racing! Was a great Sunday. With the Reno Air Race Association honoring "Legends of Aviation". Bob Hover, Clay Lacy, "Hoot" Gibson, Steve Hinton, Mira Slovak were just a few. Also, my Box 106/107 organizer John "the Legend" Hunt. Mr. Hunt has been at the Reno Air Races since the inception in 1964 when he saw Mira Slovak take the gold in the unlimited class. The turn out was very good and we think that there will be another Reno Air Race next year. Oh yeah, Voodoo beat Strega..... but not by very much. The question of who's the fastest is still unanswered.

Bob,

Sorry, I didn't see your post. I could have gotten your boy pit pass, at least for one day. Contact me next year, I may be able to help.

The guy that's been helping me build my hangar (by loan of his hangar, electricity, and water), who's also the closest thing I have to a flight instructor right now, had co-workers that were there. They had left that section to get some concessions or something if I remember correctly. Very lucky

Thanks Marty. I hope to attend myself next year. I will mosey down to Yolo County and see what kind of trophy was given out. Bob Button keeps Voo Doo in a hangar there.

I just counted my "Pylon Pins". Turns out I was first there in 2005! Must have been foggy out that year, don't remember much of it.

Marty the only requirement is remembering your arrival and remembering your departure. What happens at the Air Races stays at the Air Races.
