Reklaw 2020

Touring the Galaxy
Reklaw is happening, just 2020 style. Nothing in the hangar, everything outside with distance. If you haven't been to Reklaw, take a look here: https://youtu.be/JqgGEOXOfzA, or on YouTube, there are hundreds of videos. We get there Friday morning, park the plane and walk around looking at planes, watching the fly by's and seeing everything flying.

Yes there is a fee to attend, it is all on their website: http://reklawflyin.org/

Yup, I'm jumping into the Southern Region, but we have a deal, fly in's called in each other's regions are great, more fly in's!

Love it! I'm the King of Region hopping! I hosted last year in 3 different regions and became the unofficial NE Vice RD!

If you can, I highly recommend Reklaw. It is an outlaw airshow. The year I went, there about 400 planes that showed up. If you are going and have never been there, please post and we can go into details of dos and donts for safety's sake. Just too far for this year with so much going on.

Reklaw 2020 - - have a great time !

Sadly - - I will not be able to attend this year.

Photos are from a past year with my homebuilt. Sometimes I wimp out and just drive my camper van for 3 nights. A very fun event. Sharpen those flying skills!

Friday night coming in... already filled up.

They get stacked up in the pattern. There are non-stop fly-bys from sunrise to sunset.

Lets start by asking where is that place?

State ?

In the Great State of Texas, Deep East Texas that is. Just use Google Maps and type Reklaw TX. Technically it's the Flying M Ranch, which is just a mile or so south of the town off Highway 204.

I haven't gone, but planning too this year. Several people have said it really good time. But it is out in the sticks of East Texas, so plan on camping or making it a day trip. It's a 2 hour drive from Dallas for me.

Well, I went for the first time. It is only a 30 minute drive from my work for me. I went on Saturday. The weather was low ceilings and chilly. I am sure that kept the attendance down, but not the enthusiasm.

This YouTube video captures the essence of Reklaw 2020. https://youtu.be/crWp7-H-njA Note the PC-12 that flew in. Very surprising.

It does seem like an accident waiting to happen, and there have been some (I know the guy who flew his helicopter into a tree last year), but I am definitely going back next year.

And it is in the middle of nowhere.

Best outlaw fly-in EVER! We didn't make it this year.......we take our motorhome and stay the whole weekend. Never a dull minute! Corona virus and weather had the attendance down this year. There's a lot of YouTube videos my friends have posted over the years, be sure and check them out! Just look up REKLAW (Walker spelled backwards) on YouTube. Enjoy!!!!

Thanks for sharing. Hope to make it next year.

The next "town" down the road is Sacul - that is LUCAS spelled backwards.

For some reason 100+ years ago when they settled that area the new settlers thought it would be funny to use their names spelled backwards to name the towns.

In reality both of them are just crossroads, but they are on the map.
